Thanks for that. I'm sure it has its own thread(s) elsewhere, but I thought I'd seize the moment and ask!

Please use spoiler tags next time.
Anyway, this BD release would have been a nice opportunity to put both endings on the same disc and let you choose.

Am working my way through the set. Psycho as we all know has had a brilliant job done on it; The Birds to me looked incredible, so much so that even some of the bird effects looked impressive, which they never have before;Marnie is pretty good too, nice to see it in the correct aspect ratio; and Vertigo is also good, though I haven't watched it all the way through yet.
Anyone else's opinions?

Watched The Trouble With Harry a couple of nights ago, not the greatest film but it looked lovely. The Autumn colours popped right off the screen.

Will watch Saboteur tonight for the first time ever in life.

Sorry, I don't remember the film well enough to read much into the names they gave the endings. Apologies.

No problem
I see now that the UK release has 3 alternate endings you can access from the main menu. I've just checked with someone who's got a European version and it's indeed almost 20 minutes shorter than the UK disc. I'll ask him about the alternate endings on that disc, perhaps 1 of those lasts 20 minutes and is the part that's been cut from the UK version.
It's still a missed chance they haven't programmed it so you can play them seamlessly though.

Looking at the review of the US Blu-ray (presumably pretty much the same as the UK disc), it has the three alternate endings and they're not even in HD.

As you say, pity there wasn't the option to simply choose between different versions of the film.

does anyone know how much of a limited edition this Hitchcock set really is? ,i saw 2 copies each in both HMV shops in Dublin city centre last friday selling for €150 each which works out at about £125 sterling. Amazon are selling it for £100 there doesn't seem to be any shortage.another thing that bugs me about it is that there is only one customer review on amazon UK i would have expected that for a release of this magnitude there would be a lot more.is it really that bad that people are ashamed to admit that they were overcharged for an inferior product? anyone buy it and think it's great and good value?

What's the point in Amazon offering the options of either standard or priority express shipping fees and then providing UPS Express Saver courier service no matter what the customer pays?

Amazon did refund me.
I see they are using UPS for my delivery as well.

It was shipped yesterday and its already in Oslo, so I will have it by this afternoon.

And I picked free shipping.

That doesn't mean a lot, really. I have seen things go under review for some quite insignificant things. Somebody has probably told them that there is something wrong with a couple of the transfers.

Will this mean that people will get a refund or replasement if they find anything wrong with it?

Got my set today. Number is 2363. Front & back of the book is marked by the (clumsily assembled?) foam base.

Thank you for posting, as like BAKA, I was hesitant at first but as it is indeed the book style packaging, i'll pick it up in January!

I don't think you can read much into customer revierws, or the lack thereof, especially for something which costs £100 and has only been out a couple of weeks.

How many people actually write customer reviews?

I've bought hundreds, if not thousands, of things from Amazon over the years and I've written precisely one review.

Got my standard UK box yesterday and will watch a few over the weekend. It's a good-looking set, but it will definitely not protect the discs from scratches in the long run, being cased in cardboard and all. For the sake of protection, I'm going to get amarays for these. Does anyone know of any nice-looking custom covers by any chance?

Wow, never seen that on Amazon. This set has just had problem after problem after issue. Just not worth £100 at all, plus I read the book falls apart (probably from constant cleaning off of finger prints from what I've read)

Prefer the book style anyway, but still reading through customer reviews of the dodgy/poor PQ for the films.

Glad I stuck to my guns and will still hold fire until the standard box falls to £30 - £40, early next year.

It sounds like someone got the 'man who knew too much' twice in their set, instead of vertigo. Review doesn't state much else.
