bah! 2014 But, at least it is coming out . The last of the 80s flicks is taking forever and I was starting to think most of the remaining would never make it.
(I'm shocked that like even half of the John Hughes aren't even out on blu-ray yet.)

Just watched this movie for the first time and I fell in love with it. It gave me vibes of The Thing. I will pre-order and purchase this the minute I can.

Watching the original now as well.

Original isn't bad.... but the remake blows it away.

This statement intrigues me, I haven't seen the '88 Blob yet and the '82 Thing is my all-time favorite horror movie. Consider it at the top of my watchlist!

All three are favorites of mine, and I'd watch any of those WAY more times than I'd ever watch CHRISTINE or FRIGHT NIGHT (sorry fans, I was never a fan of these two mediocre polished studio pics). Give me Hugo Stiglitz, Andres Garcia, or Richard Jaeckel and I'm a lot happier. And I'm sure if you frequent any of the longtime horror boards, you'd see many hearty discussions regarding Rene Cardona and the like, and a lot less passion for something like CHRISTINE. I understand your comment about "bad" low-budget horror films in comparison to "good" ones (aka studio films), but you picked 3 that are pretty beloved in the underground fanbase. Of course, 1,000 CATS won't sell as many copies as CHRISTINE and such, agreed, but don't dismiss these films as "sucks ass and hated my most horror fans" as that is totally incorrect.
Wow, I didn't realize there was such a fanbase for these films. I just picked 3 obscure titles I had somewhat recently stumbled onto and got a small kick out of, but can see that they are not masterpieces by any means. "Sucks ass" is/was wrong, they suck on some level, but not that one. Sorry to all the fans of these cheesy low budget classics. I'm half-shocked anyone else has heard of them, esp. heard of all 3! FWIW, I own them all except Mako.

Think of The Thing meets Godzilla.

Check it out. I love it to death and it's made my top faves.

The Fly
The Thing
The Hills Have Eyes

I liked The Blob '88, but it will personally never top the original for me. I consider the original to be an absolute classic of the genre, and this one to be a fun popcorn flick. I'm definitely gonna try to follow this one and pre-order it when it becomes available though.

It's all about personal preference. It's like how some people will swear that the 1990 Night of the Living Dead is better than the original... whereas others will swear up and down that the original classic is the way to go.
