My local FYE had this on sale new for $34.99. I'm not sure if that is a YMMV type of thing, but worth checking out if one still wants this out of print title. Still high, but cheap I suppose for an out of print title. Usually it's $45 + for it new.

Wow that's a great deal. I should've checked my local FYE. Oh well...

Just got mine in. Didn't have a slipcover which I figured it wouldn't, but it had a major scratch on the disk...I played it through though and it only had one slight skip during the intermission part so I'm not gonna bother returning it. Like I said before, you get what you pay for

Went to my local Walmart this past few days. Since WM is doing the reset movie thing probably they found an extra copy of Fantasia blu-ray. Went to the price scanner and rang up for 29.99. Would have bought it but not a fan of this movie. By the way the slipcover was in really bad condition (torn and with tape on it).

You really should have that exchanged. A skip, even if slight, is unacceptable.

Has anybody been able (or is still able) to access the Disney Virtual Vault for Fantasia/Fantasia 2000?

I used to be able to. But I just recently took it out to watch again and found that the disc says I don't have a "broadband connection"... which is utter crap because I do. I just got Lion King on BD and I can access that Virtual Vault no problem (as well as other BD Live discs.)

Because I'm no longer able to access Fantasia's special features, I kept hold of my old Lion King DVD bonus discs instead of ditching them like I did with Fantasia. :-(

Anyone with details? Does Disney shut down a title's Virtual Vault within 2-3 years? If so, than that's utter crap!

It doesn't surprise me. I go through a lot of that nonsense on Ebay. A seller can have 100% positive feedback, list an item as like new and when you receive it, the item is all F-ed up. It's a hit and miss when buying from third parties.

Yeah I've bought several things used before but I usually don't have any problems out of them. Especially if they are listed as like new and they have a high rating. The one with an issue was the original fantasia BD (of course) and it had a huge cut on it (not a scratch like I described before). Oh well...I contacted the seller and he is sending a replacement disc. We'll see how that goes

No. He is a hack.

Jonathan Rosenbaum or Andrew Sarris, he is not.

I never even heard his name until stumbling onto this site.

Seriously though, the quality of his writing, the words he uses.. so classy, so spot-on! I love it.
You need to read more film criticism.

Apparently he did?
(Just to clarify, I read dozens of film critic reviews. Literally dozens everyday. I am obsessed with film. And I'm still convinced that Mr. Brown's reviews are especially pleasant to read and often offer a good analysis of the movie being reviewed).

Of all the critics on this site, Kenneth Brown is definitely the best and (coincidentally) i agree with him the most.

What did you trip over as you stumbled in? Your tact? A "hack"? Really? And Sarris reviews the video and audio qualities of home video releases? What Sarris and Rosenbaum are tasked to do versus what Mr. Brown is asked to do - these are very different things, for very different audiences.
