I like June 2013. I'm in for Bergman and Safety Last and will likely get the others when the sale hits.
Night and Fog has some of the most amazing and most upsetting footage I have ever seen. I used to show it to my freshman classes (college, not high school), and I think it had a pretty sizable effect on many of the students.

My copy of Badlands shipped today as well. Surprising, since The Blob didn't ship until release date. Mine shipped from BC though, so it'll still be a few days before I get it.

So, apparently Shoah is a "US Only" release. Does this mean amazon.ca won't distribute it and that American retailers like B&N won't ship to Canada? Or does it just mean Criterion will only ship it within the US?

It seems as everybody first hears of Sorrow & The Pity after seeing Annie Hall. Sad but true.

I heard there was a picture of the Badlands case and disc art in this thread somewhere. Does anyone know what page it's on?

Never seen Safety Last, Wild Strawberries, or Shoah, but I will likely get these if B&N have the 50% off deal!

Amazon.ca likely won't sell it up here but you can order it from your favorite retailers in the U.S..

This restriction is not entirely uncommon on a few Criterion releases so it's not new.

But it's nothing to worry about. U.S. sellers will ship it up here.

Our new baby (five weeks old) had me up at 4am this morning, so I was able to see the announcement live, but didn't comment on it till a more civilized time.

WILD STRAWBERRIES - Quite interested, but I have yet to see ANY Bergman, so is this a good place to start? I have to be careful to choose one that will hook my wife... Recommendations appreciated.

THINGS TO COME - Looks fun, but not at the top of my 'to buy' list (I'm pretty new to Criterion, so there are quite a few films ahead of it)

SAFETY LAST! - This sounds really fun. Quite interested in this.

MARKETA LAZAROVA - Never heard of it before, but it sounds really great. This is probably the Blu-Ray I am most interested in from the announcement.

SHOAH - Is the only one I am completely disinterested in. I can't imagine ever pulling it off the shelf.

Awesome, thanks for the response. It's probably something I would hold off on until B&N's 50% off sale anyway, so this works perfectly.

Hiya Pro-B,
Any thoughts on how the coming Things to Come will compare with the existing release in the UK?

It seems to have a lot of the same features.

I always love the free-spirited feel of Two-Lane Blacktop. This movie came out the year before I was born, but I still recognize a lot of the types from seeing them during my younger years in the 1970s.
I'm curious to see Two-Lane Blacktop if only to see James Taylor and Dennis Wilson act.

Completely off-topic:
I've had a bunch of non-Criterion titles turn up from the US and the UK.
US order:
Fort Apache
The Insider
Skyfall
Spellbound
What's Up Doc?
The Master

UK order:
Odd Man Out
Casque D'Or
La piscine
Holy Motors

including 4 Masters of Cinema releases:
The Burmese Harp
Das Testament Des Dr Mabuse
The Blue Angel
La Poison

Back to Criterion: I also had a few titles from my last B&N order finally turn up:
Ivan's Childhood
Two-Lane Blacktop
The Man Who Knew Too Much

I'm pretty happy with this month's announcements. Will definitely get:
Wild Strawberries
Marketa Lazarová
Safety Last!

I was actually hoping we'd see a Harold Lloyd box-set rather than a single title.

I was very surprised by how fun this film was. I had pretty low expectations, but I liked it a lot.

It is very slow to start though.
