What firesale? Only a few movies can be found below $10 and I wouldn't want any of them. Any movies I would want are still too expensive for a dead format. And in case anyone wants to argue that point, consider this: regular DVDs SHOULD BE more expensive than hd-dvds. SD DVDs are playable on a very large number of players whereas hd-dvds are playable on a relatively small number of players. So, the demand should be higher for SD DVDs and the price therefore higher.

Right now the studios, or the distributors that put out hd-dvds haven't figured out that they ALL should be going for well under $10. Except special boxsets of course. They should ALL be around $20.
