ps3 output to 2 screens

Hi, i am going to be buying a lg 32" lcd screen for my ps3 to watch blu ray and dvd. I also want to use the operating system i have installed on the ps3 (ubuntu) for basic computer tasks, i dont really want to do this on a 32" screen, is there a way i can output the image to another smaller hdcp compatible pc screen, i have a 20" widescreen hdcp samsung monitor that i would like to use, is it as simple as buying a splitter and using on going to the tv, the other using a hdmi-dvi and connecting to the monitor?

They are going to be at opposite sides of a room, so i suppose i will need one long hdmi cable, any websites with long lengths would be greatly appreciated. thanks
