I'll also be revisiting Ghostbusters soon, because I'm been in that frame of mind lately. (I have the standard Ghostbusters Blu-ray, not the 4K one with the marginal picture improvement, but mine still looks awesome to my eyes.)

I pick up the Blu-ray of Stripes every time I see it in a store. I'm probably going to pull the trigger on it soon if I see it on a used rack. I haven't seen it in forever, but I used to wear out the VHS tape back in the day.

It's really cool you got to meet Bill Murray The only person I ever met that was popular was a Cartoonist named Stephan Pastis. He makes a comic strip I really like called Pearls Before Swine (if you have never heard of it, I recommend you check it out). I met him at a book signing for his latest collection of comic strips.

Agreed on all points. I'm tempted to say Hellboy 2 was the best superhero film of 2008.

wow the criterions colors look really strong 0o looks a lot like "in the mood for love"? ozu did like strong colors in his movies (red is the most dominant color in his movies)

but probably criterion did again some color/contrast boosting?

US labels do that a lot 0o

I haven't seen the two films in a long time. So I can't give my 2 cents about Hellboy on this thread.

Love both of those! I've got the non-4K BD too, and like you need to get Stripes.

I've met a few "famous people," mainly comic guys at Comic-Con years ago, and musicians (i used to go to a lot of concerts). But I've also met people like Joss Whedon, Neil Gaiman, Kevin Smith, Kevin Sorbo, Stan Lee, Henry Rollins, Aaron Douglas, Lewis Black, and the second Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd (signing his vodka, and my GB and Blues Brothers BD and DVD). I'm one of those guys... I like famous people. hahaha! Oh, and I do know Pearls Before Swine... good comic.

Loved both the Hellboys... really hard for me to put an order, maybe I need a rewatch of both. But for 2008, Dark Knight or Iron Man are my favs.

I met Paul Stanley on the streets of Vancouver one time. He was awesome, a great guy.

I met The Honkytonk Man another time in a restaurant - I was just walking by and was going to say hi (I'm not an autograph hound or any of that jazz) and he basically gave me brush off like a total dick.

This was both in the late 90s-early 2000s, so I consider it poetic justice that Kiss was still performing in front of 50,000 people and Honky was relegated to wresting in a high school gym in Canada.

Hey, does anyone know if a 1982 musical that is based on a popular rock opera by a great band is getting the criterion treatment in the near future?

I got this one for "a steal..." only $998. It was on consignment at alocal gameroom store. I also want a stand up multi-game console unit.

Not a big big deal, but the site lists Videodrome as a 1982 film, when it is a 1983 film.

If I was to get a pinball machine, I would want to do one of 3 things
A. Get a Jersey Jack pinball machine to support this up and coming company
B. Get a Stern machine
C. Get a classic pinball machine.
Other then that, it would be cool have a mini arcade at my home (Maybe 3-6 machines). But that would only happen if I won the lottery.

Bringing this down to the lowest denominator, I really had a thing for Sean Young back in the 1980s. Watching my Blu-rays of Ridley Scott's Blade Runner and David Lynch's Dune brought back some memories. She was beautiful in No Way Out and Fire Birds as well, although I have not seen either of those films since they were released. Anyway, that's another reason why I want to see Stripes again.

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective somewhat lessened the allure of Sean Young for me, but she was quite amazing throughout the 1980s.

Sean Young does not appear in any of The Criterion Collection films, to the best of my knowledge, although I keep expecting them to announce Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend any month now.

You're the only one that had a thing for her back then... she was quite the "hottie" in both Blade Runner and Fire Birds (but what a god-awful movie, that I have watched on purpose too many times).

I just can't help myself. Another modern film request for Criterion: Stories We Tell. I just watched it, and it seems like the perfect film for Criterion to release.

Me, I'm still trying to afford Pinball Arcade on Playstation Network, where they replicated a "museum" of the classics in PS3 form.
Bride of Pinbot, Black Hole, AND Twilight Zone!

Er, no, think another label already has "One From the Heart".

I never did take to Hellboy. It was fun enough when I saw it in the theater, but nothing about the movie reverberated with me. I never got around to seeing Hellboy 2.

Pacific Rim was pretty awesome, but I wish that the movie had included scenes of the Jaegers fighting the kaiju in broad daylight with no rain. I'm weary of CGI-heavy scenes at nighttime in the rain. This is the big reason why Oblivion shreds Pacific Rim when it comes to visual splendor.

On an entirely different note...

Robert Bresson's A Man Escaped is a masterpiece across the board, pure and simple. This movie is so much more intense than any of the above-mentioned films, although the only special effects are a prison cell, walls, and a boarded door. I bought this and watched it on the week of release, but I've had a hankering to revisit it and will do so soon.
Yes, the only thing I wish A Man Escaped had more of was coverage shots and master shots. We never know what the layout of the prison looks like at all. Bresson could have used a helicopter shot but I know that isn't his style. The ending is quite redeeming though but sometimes I wish these prison break/escape genre films could show a few more minutes after the actual escape is successfully executed. Bresson's style isn't my style but this film is so tense and edgy at times, I caught myself holding my breath for long periods of time. I just wish I could have a sense of the overall picture rather than the small parts that make up the escape. I keep thinking of Clint Eastwood in Escape from Alcatraz, which I still think is the best prison escape film I've ever seen.

To add in to that pinball talk, I would love to get an old pinball machine one day, as well as The Simpsons arcade game from the early 90s.
