Default DTS-HD MA in PS3....very nice!

Back in the SD-DVD days, I always preferred movies with DTS 5.1 tracks compared to Dobly 5.1 tracks. To me, with my set up, the DTS tracks always sounded better. For example, I have a number of Naxos classical music DVDs and the ones with DTS always seemed to be sound better to me than the Dolby ones.

So, after the upgrade last night, I busted out the DTS-HD MA titles (Die Hard, Die Hard With a Vengeance, Mr. and Mrs. Smith) to listen to the difference and I must admit, I'm hooked again. I thought the PCM and TrueHD tracks were nice on the BDs that had them, but it just reminded me of why I like DTS more. The sound just seemed to hit my ears just right, not too high, not too low, with lots of clarity all around. Even my wife who is no audiophile, commented that it sounded different/better.

Anyway, sorry for rambling, but I'm so glad that my PS3 is now doing DTS-HD MA. I don't need 7.1 since I don't have the set up for it, nor do I need my receiver to decode it instead of the PS3. This is just fine for me.

Now, if Naxos would only come out with BDs that have DTS-HD MA, I'll be set.
