nothing to be embarrassed about your system..we all have to start somewhere...and those insignia bookshelf are about the best budget speakers around performance wise... me being a betting man...i'd place odds on those over some polk r50s.

given your college budget...i'd suggest the RC1 from tSc for your center... one blog writer who has the insignia's said the RC1 matched favorably but not a excellent match. then once funds were available i'd get the tSc P6 and move the sigs to the surrounds. just have someone have a camera ready to take your pic once u first hear that set-up. and post it here. kodak moment.

have you thought about some kind of stands or anything to raise your LR fronts up higher? in the pic they look like they aimed at the bottom of the bed. imaging and soundstage should improve drastically with just that simple project. decorate some old milk crates.

Thanks for the tip on the center speaker. I'm sick of the crappy center, so I just set it into phantom mode until I get the one you showed me. I actually plan on building some custom stands for them tomorrow, putting them at about ear height, using some standard ply wood and 2x4's.
