Unfortunately for Blu-ray, there is a mile-high wall of ignorance among the general population and I don't think it can ever be overcome. Folks just "don't get it" and, at this point, I doubt if they ever will.

For example...I was reading messages on a horror forum the other day and somebody mentioned a new Blu-ray being released. The first repsonse was, "I won't upgrade to Blu-ray because DVD is still more popular".

Now, those of here realise that such a response is completely non-sensical. The statement is fundamentally ridiculous.

Sadly, that's the problem. In order to extol the virtue of Blu-ray to others, they need to have at least minimum understanding of home video formats. And they dont...they just don't. You can't argue the merits of Blu-ray to people have no concept of home video quality. For most of the buying public, a disc is just a disc and if DVD is more popular then they are sticking with DVD and they have no capacity to grasp any other facts.
