If this thread that I am starting goes against this site rules, then a Mod can go on and delete this. I just figured it would save on people from making new threads asking how to use XMLs and where they could get the XML file.
Since people have been asking what XML files are and how to use them as well as where they could get the file. So, I decided to go ahead and make thread where people can get thee XML info and how they work. An XML file is a file that are found on a Digital Copy Disc that iTunes uses for validation purposes for redeeming digital copies of select movies. The XML file has the info iTunes needs to find to right movie of a certain movie in their database. When someone redeems a digital copy file with just the XML, you will get an error message after redemption when it attempts to transfer the movie to your PC. This message is expected, and you will be able to find the movie in your iCloud storage for download or stream (on most digital copies). The steps of making the XML file with the XML info: 1) Copy and Paste the XML info (provided in this thread) to Wordpad or Notepad. Also, if you copy and paste from the spreadsheet that Zu Nim provided the link to, check to see if these " " are at the beginning and end of the info. If they are, then delete those quotation marks. 2) Save the file with this name: iTunesInfo.xml as an Open Document Text. (Really it shouldn't matter what option you choose to save the file as, since you are basically changing the way it is saved when you have the'.xml' at the end of the file name.) Also, you might get an error message the document being saved as a text only doc, but this is normal and just click yes. 3) Move the newly made XML file to an empty USB/Flash drive. 4) Remove the USB drive from the PC, and open iTunes, if not already open. 5) Re-insert the USB into the PC Now, iTunes should automatically sense the file and open a special redemption page for the specific movie in iTunes. Here is a link that was created and maintained by dtPUNISHER that has all the XML info of each movie that requires disc/XML to redeem the iTunes digital copy. Also, if you are having trouble copying & pasting the XML info due to getting quotation marks, try viewing the spreadsheet as a list instead of normal. This way will allow you to highlight the info instead of clicking the box and copying the XML info that way: iTunes XML spreadsheet __________________________________________________ __________________________ These will be XML info for newly released movies or XMLs that haven't been updated in dtPUNISHER's spreadsheet. District 9 (This has EXPIRED, but keeping the info posted in case anyone is able to get a replacement code, unlikely though) [Show spoiler] Don Jon [Show spoiler] The Family (Thank you reeseman98 for providing this) [Show spoiler] Gamer - Still XML info for this Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (Thank you XXXsdesdeXXX for providing this) [Show spoiler] Runner Runner - Still need XML info for this Turbo [Show spoiler] The Wolverine (2013) [Show spoiler] Info was provided by dtPUNISHER to sites where on could go to get replacement codes on titles where the DC code has expired. Also, Sony seems to be the one studio that doesn't update expired codes. The studios that you can ask to get them updated are Fox http://support.foxdigitalcopy.com/ Paramount http://www.paramountdigitalcopy.com/...t/contact.html Lions gate http://www.lionsgatedigitalcopy.com/...port_form.html Universal http://www.universalhidef.com/support/ WB http://www.wbdigitalcopy.com/support/#landing-content Last edited by unsung122212; 01-11-2014 at 04:28 AM.
