Do you really mean Cinemascope or do you mean any black and white film shot with anamorphic lenses and with an aspect ratio of 2.35 or 2.55:1?
"Manhattan", as just one example, was not shot in Cinemascope. It was shot in Panavision. In the theatre, it's compatible with Cinemascope, but it's not the same thing as different lenses were used in the taking. In fact, there were few Cinemascope films after 1967. Panavision's lenses were considered far superior. |
