Default video on PS3 hard disk versus external hard disk or flash drive

OK, when I scroll through videos stored on a USB Flash Drive, it just shows the names and such of the files. When I copy those vids onto the PS3 hard drive, it shows a dynamic preview as you scroll through them. My questions are:

1. Is there any way to enable this dynamic preview of vids for USB Flash Drives? If I got a faster one would it enable it?

2. If I hooked up an external hard drive, would the dynamic preview of vids work for that?

Please let me know if you didn't understand my post. TIA
