they did promise the first 3,000 but if you believe they ONLY had 3,000 then this discussion's over...

If they had more than 3000 available to sell direct then why is the set no longer available on their website? The rest of the 10000 print run was reserved for retailers.

Probably already shipped them out to retailers so they would have to buy back a few or more to fulfill other people's orders.

Are you suggesting they have put themselves into a position, where if a customer didn't receive or did receive a damaged copy, they can't do anything about it other then refund?

That would be the funniest scenario on their part if they did have to do just that.

If they do just show your CC company the order confirmation email and that will be the end of it.

Or you could do the morally correct thing and return it. I guess it just depends on how much that kind of stuff weighs on your soul. Im past the point in my life where I would keep it but I also don't think anyone should catch flack from the moral brigade if they decide to keep it. I really doubt shout would be emailing or calling the customer if they sent out an inferior product instead.
This.

It's not just morally correct in this case, it is legally. People are trying to justify it with the "unsolicited mail" laws, but this is not unsolicited mail. If a company sends you something and you didn't ask for anything at all then you can keep what they sent you as a gift and the company cannot charge you for it.

However, if you order something and the company sends you the wrong item or duplicates of what you ordered, then you have to return it to the company at the company's expense. Otherwise you are guilty of theft - keeping something that you did not pay for or were not expressly given. The company cannot put extra charges on your card, but they can demand that you return the item as long as they pay all expenses. This is what Shout are doing.

Having said all that, I'm not sure how far Shout will go if people refuse to return the items, but people could not hide behind the unsolicited mail laws if Shout decided to prosecute. It seems unlikely they will, though, so it's probably not a big risk to keep it.

Thanks. Yeah, I knew about the coupon (that's what made the price better. $48.06). I'm going to wait until the Friday before release to cancel Amazon. That's usually when I get the shipping notifications from BIOH.

I watched both cuts last night (borrowed a friend's copy) and it confirmed what I thought would happen - I liked the DC more than the TC, and I doubt I'd ever watch the TC again.

I canceled my Amazon order for the LE, and will pick up the DC eventually.

Watched the TC for the first time in years. Looked great in HD. I enjoyed it but it did come off as rushed so I'm looking forward to seeing the DC soon.

I think like what someone earlier mentioned, the same people that were in charge of the strict quality control of the Halloween box set were in charge of this.

I choose "super saver" shipping for my blowitouttahere order.
Hope I get it before Halloween 2015 haha

The cinefamily here in LA are showing the Directors Cut on the 20th & 21st, might go see it as I won't get mine till mid November I'm thinking, earliest.
