You better send it back because they have all your information & can screw you over with extra charges.

Sending it back would be the morally correct thing to do. However, you are well within your legal rights to keep the item for yourself and Scream Factory cannot charge you the higher price. Even more than that SF legally owes you a copy of the collectors edition that you ordered and were charged for or a refund.

It's one thing when a customer is just looking to get somthing for free and it's another when the business screws up.
But I DID get what I paid for, just not the low number, and not as early as other people. It's not big enough of a mess-up to get money back. I still got it SHIPPED on the 14th.

Yeah, the initial pre-order said it would ship on or about the 14th. This info was still not enough to stifle my urge to call them when other people started getting them earlier.

I received the email today as well. I immediately deleted it right after reading it. The return box will be going in the trash when I get it in the mail. SF screwed up and now they have to eat the costs. I'll be keeping an eye on my credit card statement. They legally can't charge you for something you didn't order and if they do, I'm disputing the charges.

No. Legally, they can't do that.

I've just done a little quick research and it seems that law only counts if you didn't order anything at all and you get something. It's to prevent companies sending you stuff, then sending the bill afterwards even though you didn't ask for it in the first place.

However, when you order something and get double or an incorrect item, it says you should send it back at the company's expense. Not sure if they have much genuine legal recourse in this, so you may be OK to ignore any requests for a return, but it's not as clear cut as you think.

They're sending out phone calls too. I just got one. I didn't pick up. I just let the answering machine pick it up. It's basically the same info that was in the email.

I'm mad because it's SUPPOSED to be within the first 1,000 copies according to my order number. I'll get over it, and I'm not going to make a big stink, but the stupidity of the process for me has somewhat killed my initial excitement.
Apparently the limited edition sets were sent at random, and didn't coincide with your order number, based on that, I was expecting to get a number <100 since I ordered within a few minutes of the initial announcement, but ended up with #980/10,000.

I too was a little peeved because a major reason I didn't cancel my order with Scream Factory was the hope of a lower number.

Sure its just a number, but if you're paying a severe premium for a movie (almost 4x above the cost of a new release), you expect to feel like you're getting the most bang for your buck. Especially ordering before the 10,000 announcement.

Regardless, I decided not to get all worked up about a number, but kept that in mind next time I decide to order anything Scream Factory.

Haha. Serious business.

They can't even accurately list disc contents on their packaging, so I'm not surprised they can't even ship the right items.

Man making phone calls is pretty wild. Just out of curiosity what number did you get? If it was below 1,000 or 3,000 they may be trying hard to get them back so those numbers can go to the people that actually orders the limited edition and are supposed to get a low number.

There is also the chance that Scream Factory may step up and do something special for those that do send the package back. You never know a care package with some extra goodies may get sent out to you once they get it back.

I'd delete account info. Then maybe use amazon for SF stuff for a while! long while.
I'm with you. Tough for them, you didn't screw up. No doubt they'll just run another 5000 off as that seems to their answer

I just looked at Scream Factory's product page for the limited edition and it says it is sold out and can't be ordered. I'm pretty sure the copies mistakenly sent out are needed to fulfill other peoples pre orders.

I'm curious about the number of limited edition sets were sent out to those that ordered the collectors edition.

Just send them an email saying that you didn't recieve the LE but you got what you ordered (DC cut only). could go the extra step and attach a picture of the DC case only. There is no way they will charge anyone for the LE if you ordered the DC. Just don't see it happening. If they do just show your CC company the order confirmation email and that will be the end of it.

Or you could do the morally correct thing and return it. I guess it just depends on how much that kind of stuff weighs on your soul. Im past the point in my life where I would keep it but I also don't think anyone should catch flack from the moral brigade if they decide to keep it. I really doubt shout would be emailing or calling the customer if they sent out an inferior product instead.

Well I doubt all come on here to post, so I bet it's a good amount.

Maybe they'll be a little be more careful and check stuff properly. Probably packed by the same guy who did the QC on their Halloween set

That won't work. The DC case says limited edition on it as well. On both sides. If you were to buy the DC by itself, it doesn't say limited edition on it.

I didn't order this one direct from Scream Factory, so it isn't an issue for me, but I'd be curious what they're going to do with the opened copies that are returned. Hopefully they won't reseal them and sell them as new.

Find a picture of someone else's that's floating around on the internet with a slip cover. At the very least you folks who got the wrong edition should pop that sucker open and watch the teatrical cut before you return it.
