It seems as if AMD/ATI has come up with a nice solution, the new Radeon 4850 video card can carry LPCM 7.1 audio via hdmi. Now its still downres'd to 48khz/16bits but via, Vista can be upres'd to maximum res (an nice long thread on AVS is devoted to this very subject). Now what I would like to know is since PowerDVD 8, and WinDVD 9 Plus BD can decode TrueHD and DTS HD-Master - the output would be LPCM - just like the PS3. This sounds like a wonderful solution. I really want to wait for the Xonar HDAV 1.3 (it will bitstream - the 4850 can't bitstream - just like the PS3), but I feel upgrade lust coming on
