Thumbs down

They look one dimensional based off less than 5 seconds of footage?

We are better than that people. Just because you technically can pick apart the entire film in advance does not mean you should.

So there are three leaked clips, test shots from an earlier version of the trailer, floating around. Quality isn't great, and the CGI is unfinished, but pretty interesting. This Instagram account has them.

Coming back to this thread after some time, I'd say the Teaser overall, looks more like another episode of Terra Nova. The image does not look like film but more digital. I'm not really bothered by the control room much (though it looks bit too futuristic in my opinion). Chris Pratt looks very believable and solid as a lead. I don't know why the CG looks so, "CG"? Its not about the detail, I'm sure there's plenty of it. Its something to do with lighting and the movement of the creatures. It doesn't feel like they got any weight. The Brachiosaurus looks made from plastic. But I'm hopeful they'll polish these up more before releasing the final product.
The Jurassic World gate this time I believe, is completely CGI as opposed to the practical prop used in the first film, and the effects are probably not finished. But, I wonder why are they willing to release a trailer with the effects remaining unfinished. People may be turned-off.
Personally, I think the reason why CG in the '90s were so realistic is because they blended well with the film grain. Plus, excellent lighting hid the flaws and made the animal appear more naturalistic. Also because of the novelty and excitement of putting up these creatures on-screen for the first time, the animators worked hard and studied animals in the wild and did research themselves to understand the dynamics of movement and stuff that provided the creatures weight. I think that is lost to animators today, as its no longer a new thing.
In any case, I think the story will be good.

P.S: My suggestion to the JW film makers- apply the warm toned tint to the video, as in Jurassic Park. It'll create a similar look and also hide flaws in CG to some extent!

I saw the clips just now. I honestly do not have any hope about the CG in this film. Its too rough and does not have any weight. Looks too fake. On the other hand I can say the story is very intriguing and very strong!

It's 2014, not 1987.

Whether it's digital matte paintings or traditional matte paintings, model miniatures or digital models, it's irrelevant as it's all an illusion.

Look at this shot from Jurassic World Vs this one from Jurassic Park-

JW Raptor pose.jpg JP_Raptor corner.jpg
Th JW shot looks lifted from the JP shot, even the shadows on the various parts of its body, especially in the tail, are in the exact same spot!
The JW still is from a clip in instagram.
Anyway, as I said, the story appears to be intense. And I even like the easy girl thing!

Yeah, that's definitely the exact same image of the raptor. I guess that supposed real image from a workprint isn't so real.

It's not image, but video. That scene is real showing Chris Pratt's character surrounded by the raptors. Checkout the instagram link and play the video. The shot probably isn't finished so they used existing rendering from the original Jurassic Park.

I doubt this is a temporary thing! I think this will be the final shot.
And I think these aren't from workprints, but TV spots to be released later. However, how many of you think the overall CG looks unreal?

I think this is how the colour and the contrast will end up looking. More warm that is!-
Welcome to Jurassic World
JW Screen 1.jpg
JW Screen 2.jpg
JW Screen 3.jpg
In the third shot I have added a bit of film grain in adition to warming up the pic. I think the grain blends the CGI a bit better with the rest of the live action background. This is why I think CG looked realistic in the '90s. All the effects shots were printed to film, then colour corrected by dyes in a lab. As a result the CG blended with the film plates.
Here is 4 and 5 (also colour corrected to make them more warmer) -

But yes, we can hope. Maybe $150 million doesn't go as far as it used to, though.
True 150 mil doesn't go as far as it used to 20 years ago, but it is still a massive chunk of money and a lot of things from 20 years ago are cheaper too. Also, CG effects are far cheaper and vastly better than 20 years ago so what they could do with them now will make what they did 20 years ago look like a Roger Corman film.
