You may miss the characters you've built a relationship with, but it's not up to you to decide what happens next.

One could argue that Superman is different now as well. His upbringing is different, his traits and attitude are different, his values differ a bit as well from the pre-2011 relaunch. He's not the same person but he doesn't get the same flack as Wally West because he's still a white, straight male. Your arguments just don't hold water in this case.

What if Blade was a gay, white male that hung out in Australia? Would that be an acceptable change?
