One could argue that Superman is different now as well. His upbringing is different, his traits and attitude are different, his values differ a bit as well from the pre-2011 relaunch. He's not the same person but he doesn't get the same flack as Wally West because he's still a white, straight male. Your arguments just don't hold water in this case.

What if Blade was a gay, white male that hung out in Australia? Would that be an acceptable change?
