Very disappointing indeed. However, Bill Hunt at the digitalbits.com stated in one of his daily Bits Updates that Paramount has very quietly begun production of some movies for eventual 4K roll out. Two of the titles specifically mentioned were Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) for release later this year. Per his January 28th update:

A quick bit of Ultra HD Blu-ray news: We’ve yet to hear officially from Paramount whether or not (and if, when) they might support UHD Blu-ray releases with their titles, but industry sources are telling us that the studio has quietly begun preparing titles for release on the format, including Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness. We’ll have to wait and see when official announcements are made, but I would expect to see at least a few Paramount UHD BD titles available in time for the holidays.
So (fingers crossed) hopefully this means they will begin re-issuing all the Star Trek films in 4K/Blu-ray Combo packs working backwards. I recall when the Star Trek films first hit DVD. They issued them from TMP working their way forward. Then as the format grew, they decided to issue the films in 2 disc Collector's Editions working from (at the time) the most recent movie and working backwards.

Time will tell...but yeah, all 10 movie are in desperate need of remasters (maybe with the exception of II).
