I had the chance to test both players at the same time and I can tell you that they are pretty much even performance wise....load speed, boot up time etc...but.....to my eyes, the Panny just seems more sharper, detailed and with more pop than the Sony. You can't go wrong with either of these players, but my personal recommendation would have to be the Panny. I know that's the one I'm keeping.

I would hate to think that the creator of the technology would be less steller than the panny. I would chose the Sony since i am loyal to the brand and style would match my set up

panasonic holds a lot of the blu-ray patents as well
