Batman and Superman Animated Box Sets --- 5 Films Included --- August 8th 2016

Was really excited for the Batman one, but removing Mask of the Phantasm from the DVD set and replacing it with Batman: Bad Blood (which I found horrible) is a bit of a kicker.

Well it's a cheapo set using existing masters. They'd need to upgrade Phantasm to HD for inclusion and there's no way that happens on a set like this before it gets a standalone release.

The release date keeps fluctuating! The Batman set is now scheduled for Monday. I'm gonna pop into HMV then to pick up the Batman v Superman Steelbook, so I guess I'll find out for sure.

Would WB have fixed up Mystery of the Batwoman for this release as the current review for the US release isn't very positive about the picture quality.

I don't see why they would have, it's a budget release after all very likely to be the US disc with different disc art.

I picked it up today, so it must have been released yesterday (Monday). The Superman set isn't out on BD yet. This was in the two for £25 offer (or £14.99 on its own).

I might get the Superman set since I notice myself constantly lending out my superman animated movies, Batman one would be cool but I own those movies

Might get the Supes one too, I only have two of the movies in the set and have been meaning to get the rest at some point.

I've no interest in Mystery of the Batwoman and already own the other four Batman titles.

One thing that's pissed me off is the fact that the Batman set is 2 for £25 but the Supes one isn't.

Interesting to hear the sets have some episode of TAS as a bonus. Are they HD ports, or just upscaled?

And they really need to release Mask of the Phantasm sharpish.

If the discs are like the US ,which propably are, then no just SD.

They're just SD, but they look very nice. Obviously we'd love to see them mastered in HD, but compared to Superman: The Animated Series (which isn't terrible), the Batman: The Animated Series has always looked very nice upscaled.

The only issue with the bonus episodes is that some of the Justice League episodes are non-anamorphic widescreen.

But if you collect the DC animated movies on Blu-ray you'll amass quite a collection of animated series episodes from Superman, Batman and the Justice League (there are even episodes from Young Justice and Batman the Brave and the Bold) series.

Superman-Unbound-audio commentary,2 featurettes-40 mins,4 episodes of superman animated-includes the first episode which is part 1 of 3,the other 3 episodes are from later in the series
Superman-Doomsday-4 featurettes-90 mins,audio commentary,4 episodes of superman animated,trailers
Superman vs the elite-audio commentary,2 featurettes-31 mins,2 episodes of superman animated,trailers

so i think if you havent got these sets and you can get them cheap they make really good value for money
in total you get 10 animated films,over 8 hours of featurettes,33 episodes of various dc animated shows,audio commentaries and a ton of trailers.

they are packaged in a normal blu case with a slipcover,theres no mention of any extras on the packaging.
the superman set is online from hmv but batman isnt listed,also got a free dc sample dvd with them..
have noticed batman assault on arkham has been re-released with a new cover and slip it now includes a bonus disc-dc origins??? nothing else listed about the bonus disc.

Popped into HMV Oxford St to pick them both up, but they only had the Superman one. They have 6 Batman ones on order so I have to go back at the end of the week to pick them both up.
