I don't know if it's too expensive really, but I know I don't care enough about TOS to buy it at that price. I'm more a TNG era guy, and am fairly sure there are some TOS episodes I have only seen once. It's a fun show, but not my thing anywhere near as much as the others.

Oh I know. I have been active on Trek forums for 15 years or so, even was a moderator for a long time, and I know for many fans TOS is where it's at. Whenever people show a preference for TNG era there are always 10 pages of posts that follow arguing about how insane that is. In the end though I bet it's pretty common, especially in 80's kids like me.
I will say Undiscovered Country is probably my favorite Trek thing and the start of my fandom, so at least it has Kirk and Spock in it. ![]() |

TOS has that "first love" kind of nostalgia for me. And It's hard to be a sequel series in sci-fi because many of the good concepts have been used. My favorite stuff from TNG is the Klingon, Romulan, Borg, Cardassian plotlines. I'm really hoping that starting next year for the TNG 30th they release themed box sets. I gave my oldest daughter all my TNG season sets. I'd sure love to have all dozen or so Klingon episodes in a handy set -- rater than fishing thru 7 seasons when I want to binge. |

Doctor Who is a similar thing, I got into it because of the new series and then went back to watch the classic stuff. 90% of the classic stuff is pretty bad IMO, but the 10% I like is really great. |

If they releases just those unused scenes by them selves then people probably would be complaining that it's a "lazy" release with no effort put in by the distributors. Quote:

I think they will sell a lot a lot more "Vault" sets with these twelve episodes the if the they came out with re-release of the complete series. What would you prefer to pay? A set with 12 episodes for $50, or the full series for $100+? Those that already have the whole series probably don't want to re-buy it again just for those out-takes, and those that don't have it, or don't want to spend $100+, can get a nice compilation of the best/popular/significant episodes from TOS. ![]() C'mon, you know you want it. Sure, it'll start to fall apart with in 12 months, and if you don't get it from a B&M store, but shipped from Amazon and co. we all know what the state it will arrive it reaches your door. ![]() But seriously, I'm sure that eventually the set will come it a regular case and the price will be more to your liking. Once TNG blu-ray seasons went for $30 each so it's highly likely that will come at a price that's rich enough for your blood. You'll just have to keep your eye on it for any sales in the future. We might even get lucky at the next Black Friday sale. |
