Why not get all 6? The 1st one is a good movie and so far I'm happy with 5 and the part of 6 I've seen. It was like $13 a movie for me each.

I couldn't find the 6 pack anywhere so I settled for 2-4, I'll get the rest at another point in time.

I had preordered the 6 movie boxset, but after the reports of DNR, etc I canceled. Then I broke down and ordered the Trilogy due to recent Amazon pricing (and the fact that I love these three movies, especially II). Have not watched them all yet (but I did sample them), but Khan looks pretty good. III and IV? Not so much. Hopefully Paramount will remaster these movies at some point in the future and lay off the DNR.

I was tempted to buy the 6-film set even though the Genesis Trilogy would be best for me. But I have 2-7 and 9 on DVD so I figured I might hold out for a complete set of all 10 original films on blu. I know they'll do that, they did it with the Director's Cut DVDs.

I'll see what they do near the end of the year when Star Trek 2009 is released on Blu.

Not going to buy either pack. I will wait for the lot to come out as one box with the extended cuts and better transfers.

Why don't you have Star Trek: First Contact? That's like the best Next Generation movie. Sorry just thought that was strange. Carry on.

Smile Yes, I bought the Trilogy.

I bought the Trilogy (2, 3, and 4), on the day it was released, and watched all 3 discs, about 4 times. These are superb movies and on Blu-ray they are even better than they were in the theater when they came out.

Australia I can wait for the Complete Boxed Set

I bought the new box set of TOS just recently because it was region-free AND had lots of new stuff on it...will do the same for TOS 2 & 3. As far as the movies go, I'm sure they'll eventually do a complete box-set of the entire 11 movies in BD, hopefully in the Director's Cuts. Till then I can wait.

LOL I knew someone would catch me on that. To be honest I loved Generations so much so when I saw First Contact at the theater in '96 I just wasn't that crazy about it. A friend let me borrow Insurrection and I actually liked it so I picked it up on the Director's Cut DVD and I wasn't crazy about Nemesis when it came out so I never bothered to pick it up. So I'm missing 1, 7 and 10 and the completist in me figures I should wait until all 10 films are released as a nice set to get them all on blu.

I bought the 7 disc set at BB. Only paid $20 so I guess that made my decision easier.

Trilogy set for me. I'm not pleased with Paramount's handling of The Motion Picture.

Here's a couple of Q and A's from Robert Wise in an interview with Startrek.com before his passing:

Q: Mr. Wise, were you surprised or disappointed that Paramount decided not to re-release the new edition of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" the way "Alien" or the old "Star Wars" trilogy were? Was [a theatrical release] supposed to happen at all?
JF, Montreal Canada

RW: My return to the picture was always intended as the final cut of the film, and for it to be released theatrically. Paramount offered to only support the project for home video, so given the options we accepted. I still believe that the film deserves a theatrical re-release, and that my team, David, Michael, and Daren need to be back at the studio to accurately restore and create the new negative I always intended. In the future, my "Director's Edition" should be the only version that people see, on film theatrically and video in the home.

Q: Hi Mr. Wise. I love the new DVD, it's fantastic — the new sound mix really engaged me. My question is, what were your impressions and input about updating the original sound track from the audio system of the time to 5.1-channel surround sound that is standard today? Did you have any input on the new sound track?
Paul M.

RW: David, Michael, and I had many discussions about what we wanted to do with the 5.1 sound mix. We really didn't have an opportunity to complete the sound mix originally, because the sound editors can't work until the picture element is finalized, and the minute it was finished it went to the lab to have prints struck. The designers created a whole library of sound effects, and all of that material was still available. So I didn't have to pick and choose every little sound, but David and Mike played sequences for me as they were finished, in some cases giving me one or two other choices. Sound plays a very pivotal part of any motion picture, and we knew that it would be necessary to update the sound mix to help carry the story and flow of the picture. I believe that it was at least fifty percent sound that helped the film gain a 'PG' rating over its original 'unthreatening' 'G'.

I have Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness On Blu-Ray, but I will probably buy this set as well. I'm a sucker for box sets. I might also buy the single copy of Beyond just because I'm a completionist as well

I'm waiting on the specs for the trilogy to make sure that Into Darkness is the IMAX version that was released in the compendium. If it is I'm selling my compendium digipack and getting this.

Same here. If it has Into Darkness with the IMAX version then I will definitely get the set and sell the compendium.

Is there a trilogy set with 2, 4 and 6?

Still haven't bought any of the Star Trek movies on Blu-ray...

I checked out the new Star Trek Trilogy Collection at my local Target. It's a whopping big no go. Only that latest film "Beyond" has any substantial special features. The first two films are limited to commentaries. If you're considering a purchase, my advice is to get the three movies separately in order to get the special features for each one.

Right, the way to go is to buy the Compendium for the first two films and then just buy the regular or UHD set of Beyond.

I bought the compendium a few months ago and it looks like the trilogy set has no special features.
I chose to just get Beyond (bought the Best Buy steelbook) and if they do an upgraded Compendium to include Beyond and additional bonus features then I'll double dip, if not I'm satisfied with Compendium and Beyond
