Default Are you buying the Star Trek Trilogy instead?

Personally, since my favorite Trek film is part 2, I really dont need to see part five and six. Dont get me wrong, I like all of them, but why spend $90 when I can get the 3 best for $40 at walmart? I skipped the whole set and just bought the trilogy. Is anyone else doing this?

I just got done watching them and really like the quality. My only complaint is that there have been so many dvd releases and Star Trek specials, theres really nothing new you can do in terms of special features. I mean how many times can you have Nimoy and Shatner talk about Star Trek until youve heard everything.

Nope I am not going to buy the 6 pack or the 3 pack. I will keep my DVD's of the director's cut for now.

Is it just me, or should the trilogy set have parts 1-3, and not 2-4?

Anyway, I got a good price from DVD Empire on the 1-6 set, so I went for that.

No, 2-4 are all connected to the same story arc. 1-3 would not make any sense.

No matter, I got all 6 and watched TMP Thursday night and I am watching WOK tonight.

It's all good!!!

Agreed.

And I just bought the trilogy as well, not all 6.

I've always had a respect for Star Trek and know a good bit about the movies, but 1 just never floated my boat, at all. Just didn't see myself subjecting myself to it again. And 5 and 6 have never really done it for me, either.

Out of the whole lot my favorites have always been 2-4, and then in the NG era, 'First Contact' and 'Generation'.

My set will be complete when I have these.

5 sucks I admit... but for me 6 is the best of all the 11 movies(yup better than Star Trek 11).

I had to have it so I bought the set.

I only paid $79.99 CAD and I got a nice t-shirt with it... so i can't complain.

I look at paying more for the ones I want but less for the ones I didn't... ie $25 for Khan and TUC... so I only paid $5 for Part V and Part I.

Works in my head lol

All 6 for me. Gotta have "The Motion Picture" for the beautiful special effects work, the first views of the refurbed Enterprise, and Jerry Goldsmith's wonderful music. Six is also worth having. Five is the one I would otherwise pass on.

I believe that the digitalbits guys said to look for ST 2009 to be either included with a set of the Next Generation's films: VII, VIII, IX, and X, or just released around the same date. They won't release a full set. Star Trek TOS seasons 2 and 3 should come out around the same time too, can't wait for that.

I will wait for awhile and see if they release all of them on blu in one way or another also. whether it be a 11 movie set or the another pack with 7-11 or whatever. I am a fan of all the movies really but i can netflix the first set for now if i really wanted to and hold off on a purchase

It was my understanding that 1-6 was being re-released as directors cuts around Christmas when the new movie comes out.

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it but I haven't seen any of these movies in the longest time. I'll just get them now and worry about the rest later.

Ordered 6-set because the idea of not having all the Star Trek movies bothers me. Even if I will watch 2-4 mostly, it's nice know I can watch the others when I like

I'm still tempted to get the original season because I feel like I'm missing out.

Some weird neurological problem I have perhaps?

Not purchasing either set. I know they will be releasing a "new improved" version later and not really into start trek that much to buy them now anyways.
