I have the gain set at 12 noon, and the frequency all the way up (150Hz, I think). I have a Pioneer 84TXSi, it controls all the subwoofer output anyway.

Default Get an Outlaw Audio 12" sub

I already have a custom 15" dual voice coil sub powered by a NAD amp bridged mono that I made but added a 12" Outlaw Audio 350 watt powered sub and that is one of the best subs I've heard. I am planning on getting one to two more in the future.

They have a massive port, which allows the driver to get sloppy at high volume. It helps to have two, you can turn each one of them down. You also have to have a very clean signal - fine with Blu's or clean audio from CD's, but terrible with most HDTV signals and normal TV stereo.

You might want to spend a few more bucks, or go ahead and get it if it's for a small space and you're not trying to bust out the windows or anything.

If you set the the sub itself @ 80hz you will get a GREAT improvement.

These subs really bang, I have the hz in the receiver and on the subs set to 80hz. Someone told me to try 80 on the reciever and turn the hz all the way up on the sub. It was terrible and I would have to sit right under it if I kept it like that.

On the reciever I have the db turn down and the bass tone turn down alot because of the power they put out.

Reading your first post have me wondering what are your settings? I do know, as I said, having your Sub with the hz turned all the way up is the wrong setting for these subs.

I struggled with those things, and had it set at 80 for a long time. I think the filtering on the unit isn't all that precise - so I let everything come through from the receiver, instead of trying to limit it at the sub.

I'll give it another try. The reason I opened it up is that when I did, changing the settings on the receiver was a lot better. The frequency adjustment is really for pass-through setups, I think. But what the heck, I'll try it.
