Not true. I purchased a Sony ES cd player. It turned out to be nothing but a standard Sony CD player with a heavy plate installed in the bottom cover. They also added a beautify metal facade. It was designed to influence my perception of quality.

Even if the Pio is as much better as you say, he will have difficulty seeing the difference on the type of equipment he has. I think the money would be better spend upgrading other areas of his HT.

I know he has a concern with warrantys. But look at it this way, he can buy 2 or 3 Sony's or Panny's for the price of that Pio.
