The problem is Pitt has quite a few top tier players at their respective positions and obviously can only pay at the cap. Then factor in Ben could retire at any minute which would be a huge factor in what their immediate plans would entail. The tag gives them, and pretty much any team, the luxury of playing the waiting game one more season to see how the fluidity affects that team. Again not rocket science.
They are just not going to let a player like Bell walk. What, are you Bell’s agent? Lol!

No I just don’t think they are gonna sign him long term. He wants 15 million a year and they don’t wanna pay that. So they say we are gonna franchise him right before the biggest game of the year for them and wonder why he is pissed. I think they franchised him because they thought they had about 2-3 years to win with Ben so franchise bell and then let him walk in the end. They’ll get a 2nd or 3rd comp pick for him. I think the Steelers wanna be all in for next year because Ben isn’t gonna stay long.
