So now I have to ask this question. Is it worth the money to upgrade to the panny 35 or sony bdp-s350? Will I notice any difference in sound quality having my receiver doing the decoding via bitstream?

Bitstream and LPCM does the samething, some people say they hear a difference, some people dont. both the panny and sony are good players, did you try everything to fix that problem with the ps3 though? i never had that problem before with mine.

See, that's the thing, BAC - the both of us have had the same issue, but others have not - maybe its a firmware thing or just bad discs or some setting we have on in our players/receivers...strange.

Well...we got both of our discs in Florida...maybe a bad batch was distributed here....hmmm...did you get it at Costco? I did...

I remember when you went through that JJ, I was upset with Marantz for a while - it seems as if it may be an isolated PS3 issue. OP, if you can - get a 55 or 350 (with a return policy that you like) see if that works. That issue was a big mystery!!!!
