I really enjoyed TLJ and bought it on 4k UHD, I must be a horrible person, lol.

But seriously I can't imagine hating something, but surrounding myself with it, talking about it everyday and having that negativity spew out of me all the time. What a horrible thing to put one's self through. It's like being obsessed with an ex-spouse that you hate.

Also the people who call "PC" whenever a non-white, none-male actor is used have a serious ****ing problem.

Some people just feel this movie attacked them I think. It was funny listening to Johnson's commentary because he keeps repeating that his main goal was to surprise, to do what you least expected, to subvert expectations and change the game. You have to expect that when doing that a lot of... shall we say "basic" fans... are going to hate it. I don't think they should to the EXTREME they do, but it makes some sense it annoyed people.

Reminds me of the Ghostbusters remake's marketing constantly being all "if you don't like it then tough shit, loser!" Those are your fans you're talking to, you know? Imagine Infinity War being a total tone change and subversion of the 20+ Marvel movies before it. People would flip.

Still, as said, I don't think it's nearly that huge a deal. Though I also wouldn't say Star Wars is a huge thing for me, so... I dunno.

That's the best time ... Star Wars (((3D)))

Not as good as The Force Awakens but still very serviceable and more immersive than the 4K version.

That's simply another example in the laundry list of sensationalism coming from your team. Besides the drive-by posters in here that hated the movie and post only for shock value, there hasn't been a single regular poster here saying that the movie is one of the worst films of all-time, or that it should be removed from the canon entirely. People have been reasonable and have articulated their points quite clearly.

No one had a problem with the casting in Rogue One. Those were all good characters.

Seriously, who even cares about Finn, Poe, or Rose's characters after TLJ? especially the latter two.

That's exactly the issue. The sole purpose of this movie was the subversion of expectations and people saw right through it.

The alt-Right sure did and called for a boycott.

Try the movie discussion thread. A completely different game going on there, with claims that TLJ is the worst major sequel ever made, that Rian Johnson doesn't like Star Wars and should be drawn and quartered, and that anyone who defends the movie is neither a film buff nor a Star Wars fan. And that's just in the past few days. All "reasonable" statements, I'm sure.

Yes I did, see TLJ in both 3D and 4K. No appearance, no claim, just the fact, no sweat, no problemo, all that Star Wars jazz.

Great point about Rogue One. Hell, there were/are/will be plenty of female, black, whatever characters in various SW films and they never bothered anyone. Some of the characters suck in TLJ because they are useless, plot-killing do-nothings. They could be pasty white 58 year old men and it wouldnt have changed a damned thing. So, enough with the "scared white male" BS. Its so stupid to even say it..... seems desperate. Fail.

As for TLJ? Yeah, Johnson certainly did mix things up but its not surprising that it rubbed plenty of people the wrong way. We just watched Return of the Jedi as we have now completed EP1 through EP6 including Rogue One. So, just TFA to go(tomorrow night) and then Sunday night its viewing #2 of Last Jedi.

I can already tell though that Im still going to hate watching Luke in TLJ. When we last see him, he has reconciliation with his Dad and his sister. Its a great ending scene. Next time we see Luke.... hes a grumpy curmudgeon that drinks Alien titty milk. But - Ill watch it again and Im hoping I like it better. I just have to brace myself for some of the "meh" moments. Wish me Luck.

I'm not telling you anything; you already have your mind made up.
Did you see the 3D version?

Imo I think the 3d version looks good and I was not impressed with the 4k version of this film at all. I keep hearing directors choice for the look of it and I am fine with that but if the PQ only looks a hair better (sharper) than the BR then why would most people buy the 4k version except for the ones on here who can tell a slight difference between the two. My wife and son could not tell a difference at all beteeen the 4k and the BR but with the 3d version they all sit down and watched it. Not starting a argument but stating my opinion and if some like the 4k better that is great but as soon as someone says 3d looks better than 4k crowd gets crazy lol. If you have not watched the 3d and 4k versions than you have no way of knowing which looks better.

Do 4K TVs make Blu-rays look just as good or better than 1080p displays? I’m thinking of getting a 4K TV but I don’t have any 4K discs yet and it would suck if my Blu-rays looked worse than on a 1080p display.

Yes, so busy subverting expectations that it forgot it needed to tell an intersting story.

But it did tell an interesting story. I keep getting this feeling that for some people, the "interesting stories" seem to only come from the OT, and not any of the other six Star Wars movies.

There are plenty of stories about heroes in cultural myths where they seem to have finished their heroic journeys, but meet a tragic end years after their great victory. King Arthur and Beowulf fall into that category, and so does Luke in TLJ.

I think you're still missing our point here, or at least my point/concern with this.

It's the way how he is being portrayed and how he acts (comedy elements) not so much the fact itself what has happened to him (which I'm okay with btw).

You know what, we keep running around in circles with this but I just had to "answer" your post one more time. And so we go on and on, but hey, at least we keep it civilized.

I think I will be giving TLJ a third watch sooner than expected. Normally I watch all SW movies back to back, but I am curious on how my opinion will be after seeing TLJ another time, so it'll be just TLJ for now.

My 4k setup even makes great DVDs look great, you don't need to worry about Blu-Rays, unless they were already flawed to begin with.
