Saw this tonight in pre-screening and it was better than San Andreas. Over the top and thrilling! We really enjoyed it.

Doesn't even compare to what seems to be happening in this movie.

Not with any camp factor, just as a badass action hero. He could've destroyed it in some R-rated action, and he has done a few films that reflect that, but if he had been around in the 80s, he'd have a whole slate of hardcore, classic action films on his filmography. Any thoughts?

Just the state of action movies during his tenure, I guess. But damn, man, if The Rock signed onto something with the squib, choreography, stunt, explosion and no shaky-cam masters, they'd have all the investment money and creative liberties they need to set a high bar.
The Rock has done a lot of 3 stars out of 5 type movies. Good enough to watch and own at a cheap price, but no classics. Movies like The Rundown, Faster, Snitch, San Andreas and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Fun flicks, but no classics.

This newest movie looks like trash. I know its action and it doesn't have to be totally realistic, but geez.... The movie looks like crapola.

yeah it's a shame the rock is not making classic action movies, but the money is in these decent, cookie cutters, harmless movies, that everyone can enjoy

and in his defense, beside a few established franchises, there are not many good action movies, nowadays

I'm waiting until this weekend when the official pre-order is up. Hopefully BB will have a decent steelbook on this at a decent price.

Saw this one at a screening and was genuinely surprised by how enjoyable it was. It's not gonna break new ground or anything but it's hugely entertaining and just a blast to watch. Doesn't take itself too seriously which makes the film all the better. Looking forward to picking up the release.

A genuinely crowd pleasing, well paced, ideal popcorn Summer movie that manages to blend just enough humor and seriousness, without completely going off the rails.

Went with Dolby Cinema for this one and it delivered as I expected. It's a high contrast, sharp, detailed image with solid shadow detail and black levels. Outside of some scenes with noticeably weak CGI, image quality was excellent throughout.

This was an extremely busy audio track. Great mixing with on some hard hitting fight sequences, and aggressive when it needed to be with explosions, and scenes of destruction. Bass may have ran a little bit hot, but it does a good job of balancing mayhem and quieter scenes. Lots of activity up top for Atmos fans, courtesy of helicopter fly bys, and buildings collapsing. I think this will be a mid - top tier 4K release.

It was also a nice surprise to see Neve Campbell back. She's aged well, and there was believable chemistry between her and Johnson. Looking forward to seeing more of her.

The best movie The Rock has been in is Pain & Gain and he is absolutely fantastic in it. It's the best performance he's ever given, a role he was born to play. I can't believe it's the same guy when I see his acting in most of his other movies.

It's a shame he'll just be playing it safe from now on. I doubt The Rock of 2018 would make a movie like Pain & Gain these days. A lot has changed for him in the last few years and he seems to be happy in his groove of entertaining but wholly generic blockbusters.

Just finished this in a Dolby Cinema and it didn’t resonate with me. The movie hit too many familiar beats and missed too many of its marks, and strayed a little too far into the absurd for me to stay grounded in the characters and story. I felt that the villain was hollow and that the role just wasn’t a good fit for The Rock.

Not a disaster by any means, but I don’t think it ever gelled together. Should be a solid UHD presentation but I’ll be curious to see how all the CGI fire holds up. A few shots looked pretty bad to me and it could be magnified on the home release.

Thanks. Just put my pre-order in. $26.99 not to bad. But I'm sure it will drop in price before release date.

No 3D, No Purchase and No Pre-Order. And before you mention Amazon, I do not buy Amazon Exclusives. So either Universal needs to get off their butts and allow Best Buy to carry the Blu-Ray 3D+Blu-Ray+Digital Copy in their stores in the US or Best Buy needs to get off their butts and carry the Blu-Ray 3D+Blu-Ray+Digital Copy in their stores and on their website, even if it's as a pre-order because the only way I'll buy the 4K version is if it's released as an Ultimate Combo Pack 4K+3D+Blu-Ray+Digital Copy+MA+4KUV.

And if Amazon can carry the Blu-Ray 3D, then Best Buy sure as hell should be allowed to.

Pacific Rim: Uprising was released as a 4K+3D+Blu-Ray+Digital Copy+MA+4KUV Ultimate Combo Pack.

This movie was an absolute joke. People in my audience were laughing at scenes, and the scenes were not funny. They were laughing at how dumb and outrageous some scenes were.

San Andreas was much more enjoyable. This was just dumb, CGI excuse, tech gadget excuse of a movie.

A completely absurd movie. I'm all for popcorn, leave reality at the door but this just went way way beyond all of that. It would have worked better as a cartoon.

The Rock's acting sucked in this too compared to his other movies.

I actually enjoyed the film. It wasn't anything particularly special, but it entertained me well enough. It was great to have Neve Campbell back on screen, also.

I did find some of the stuff kind of ridiculous, but the whole premise seemed pretty absurd as it is, so I just went with it.

I'm on the fence with the 4K release, though. Was it entertaining enough to add to the collection? Not sure, but maybe a stellar presentation or lackluster video transfer will determine that.
