I really don’t care what mainstream viewers or dudes who debate films on bluray.com think. This film is getting panned by horror hounds almost universally and rightfully so.

It’s just not good.
How does it feel to be so wrong?

Something occurred to me today -- did this movie establish a new record? JLC is playing the same character 40 years later. That that ever been topped? Tony Perkins played Norman Bates in films spanning over 31 years, but I can't think of any others that have come close. Anyone?

Saw the movie yesterday. I thought it was okay and I believe the original beats it by a mile. I really wish they have utilized the jump scares better and casted another actress rather than Judy Greer to play the daughter. I found her extremely obnoxious through the whole movie. I was expecting more and was deeply disappointed.

Her character wasn't all that great anyway. I rolled my eyes when she kicked Laurie out saying "the world isn't scary and dangerous, it's full of love and compassion etc etc" something along those lines.... I was like... are you really that clueless and naive??? She came off like an ignorant twit who's a fairweather fan towards her mother.

Would doctors have been that mystified and would Michael be that legendary? Imo, not really. Bundy and Dahmer were worse. Hell a good portion of known serial killers have had bigger better reasons for their infamy. Now if H2 and H20 were factored in along with the implication of Michael's murderous escapades, then yeah his legend would ring true and the fascination and terror would be warranted. The brother/sister angle would have been beneficial to the generational angle in H40 as well.
1. PTSD affects people in different ways. I have a friend who on tour was ambushed in Iraq, and all these years later, even though he is far away from the middle east, he still has outright paranoia that someone will jump him at any given moment. Relationships have been ruined, because at one point, it got so bad, he looked at us, and his own girlfriend as an enemy.

I also have a relative who without going into more detail, was abused and even though the abuser is long dead, she still suffers from PTSD, although she has managed it far better than Laurie has. She joined the army to give her strength, went to college to give herself wisdom, and moved halway across the country when her tours were finished, because she couldn't stand to be so close to one person. Its 50 years later and it still affects her.

2. If Haddonfield was free of the kinds of brutal slayings for another 40 years, then Michael would still be discussed among that community. sometimes its not the bodycount, but motive, appearance, the victims tale of life cut short, and how his spree affected the small town that could drive empathy from the public, and still be seen as a dark stain on the community as a whole. Dahmer, Bundy, Gacy, BTK may have racked up more bodycounts, but neither wore a mask, or kept silent, not speaking a word since 1963. They willingly spoke about their crimes, sometimes with charisma, or almost boasting. Michael hasn't done that. That would bring many a psychologist to Smith's Grove to study, because he would be very unique among the other killers. I'd say Michael Myers would still have a legacy.

3. You like the sister angle, others don't and would argue Michael's legacy was tainted by making him compelled to commit familicide.

There were two babies in the theater I went to. One towards the left side of the theater and one to the right, and they would cry occasionally. Who the hell brings a baby to a horror movie, and late at night?

There were also two guys behind me who talked too much and they actually said, “Who brings a baby to a theater?” I wanted to tell them they were more annoying than the babies. Decided against it though as I wanted to minimize the risk of getting shot.

A buddy of mine in Maine was dating a girl from Mexico in Maine. One time a car skidded to a stop in front of them and she freaked out thinking she was about to get abducted because some of her friends were abducted that way in Mexico. And this was thousands of miles away. I believe ptsd is incredibly powerful even though I have never experienced it. I couldn't even imagine how I might react with ptsd.

There’s a three-minute short film called “November 1st” that deals with Michael’s actions the day after Halloween. P. J. Soles told me about it when I met her at the H40 convention. She has a cameo in the video.

I've known people with PTSD, specifically a chap who survived a nasty car accident. It's no joke and can affect you indefinitely in ways most people couldn't imagine. I mean physically, involuntarily in truly bizarre ways. This guy would sometimes walk around with his arms up like a mummy because of the stress of his condition (drugs can contribute to that as well).

When dealing with mental health issues you have a tremendous amount of dramatic license because there is a wide gamut out there in the real world. I don't think Halloween was too wide of the mark in that regards - especially the restaurant scene where Laurie is an emotional wreck, I think that is a very real scene. Also, David Gordon Green was a kinda "verité" arthouse director capturing everyday life (and overlooked contigents of society) long before he made a name making heavily improvised stoner comedies.

Those are the ones that spring to mind immediately for me. I'm certain there are other examples, some probably involving animation. But it depends on what exactly you're asking. If just "Has anyone ever played the same character onscreen more than forty years later?" the answer is "Yes."
There's Stallone as Rocky - 1976 to 2018, 42 years so far.

I’m fine with calling the original Halloween II HII and Zombie’s version H2. His film is also called Halloween II, but I find it strange to use Roman numerals in a movie about a bunch of white trash characters who probably don’t even know what Roman numerals are.

Yeah
That was the filmmakers poking fun at the wussy generation of today... the snowflakes.

Then ya got the wussy podcast guy trying to explain that “Michael is just misunderstood” and that it’s “really all of us who should be in prison.”

I’m s horror hound. When I have finished watching a horror film, I go outside and howl at the moon. It’s a great stress reliever but I get a lot of funny looks.
