Default Will PS3 games ever have full keyboard / mouse support?

We all know PS3 easily supports keyboards and mice. I have done most of the gaming in the past on a PC and therefore still like the keyboard/mouse control more natural, accurate and efficient. Especially in shooters.

It seems that it would be a piece of cake for developers to add an option to use keyboard / mouse instead or in addition to PS3 controller. However I am not aware of any game that would have full support of this kind.

Will this ever happen? Are there any technical limitations? Or is this simply a "political" decision to not enable keyboard / mouse in-game control for PS3 games.

I will appreciate you thoughts on this. Thank you!

Usually they don't enable support for KB/M on console gaming because it gives an advantage over those using a controller.

I think an easy fix would be to have separate rooms or games online for those using KB/M.

.. or since it's easy / inexpensive to connect a KB/M to a PS3, this should not be considered a "no-no", but will give players an option to go with a type of control device they prefer.
Also, if KB/M are given in game support, then this opens up the possibility of playing some games online with the PC gamers. Think MMOs, for example. Or the good old Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (TCE) - wouldn' be nice to have a PS3 client for these kind of games that would allow us to join in with the PC players? Or am I smoking something this morning?
The other approach would be for some vendors to design a PS3 controller that resembles a real KB in usability. I just hate having both hands tied to a small controller, I like my hands spaced out ...

Some games have, at a great fury of ps3 users.. there is a mentality that key/m users will own non key/m users which I think is BS.. personally

There is one game that used this feature... Unreal Tournament 3
it works pretty well ive tested it.

Maybe it's just because i'm not really a PC gamer and been a console gamer since NES, but to me using a KB/M is hard as hell. Thats the only reason i dont play PC games, i hate using KB/M. can someone enlighten me on why this is so great

Its a eliteism issue.. I like both actually and I personally like the idea of more options to the players so they may interact with the game in the way they are best at.

That is my opinion over this issue.. by increasing the control options the more avenues we allow in of user without having to dumb things down..

Which is perfectly fine with me. As I said, this would only give a PS3 gamer an option: if you are better at KB/M, go to options and set the appropriate controls there. But at any point you can still use sixaxis if you need or want to. Actually, it would be even better if in multiplayer and online games some of the gamers on the same PS3 could use sixaxis, while others could use KB/M.

I have had PS3 in the house for more than two years, and I still cannot get completely used to the controller. Somehow I always feel so constrained especially in action games when both my hands are holding that little controller. I move to the PC and have a totally different experience. My hands are comfortably positioned on the KB, my mouse (I am a big fan of Trackball mice) is right here nearby. My hands are spaced out, I can move one hand independently of the other.
I am not really saying that KB/M should allow for more functions / operations compared to PS3 controller. No, let's enable exactly same number of buttons so that indeed KB/M gamers do not get any functional advantage over SixAxis gamers. As I see it, KB/M will be strictly an ergonomic alternative to a traditional controller.

We so far only have one real world example where PC gamers can compete head to head with/against console gamers. That's Shadowrun. I've played that game loyally since the beta almost two years ago.... with just brief breaks to play the latest greatest must haves.

I will tell you that when you are in game.... there is no way to tell the difference between a PC gamer and a console gamer. They hold no advantage whatsoever. I've seen console gamers with rediculous dead eye aim, and PC gamers who couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Either FASA did a great job of balancing the supposed advantage of PC gamers.... or there is no such advantage.

UT3 already told me this, as you can set the server to keyboard and mouse, controller or allow all...

And you can watch the effectivness of the two controller types.. working in harmony.

i remember when they talked about unreal tournament 3 having k/m combo that they had to balance it against controller.

there's a clear advantage to keyboard/mouse, being accurate is generally faster, therefore easier.

I think too many people complained they just modified some of the weird manuvers.. as far as accuracy I think its all in peoples head...

Ive used both controller situations in that game, I see no increase in accuracy or improvement in my ability to aim.. I prefer the joypad personally but I love choice..

The balance is that keyboard users cannot do the double jump to the side thing.. Thats it..

I can cheat though I have a multi dpi mouse and I can change the laser setting to OMG im dizzy, to I can't hit shit, to my favorite normal..

The DPI settings seem to work a little different on UT lol...

awww don't be like that, i just meant the real good ones, like killzone, resistance and i believe there was one more with a agood story line taht's exclusive the PS3.
that is to say along with bioshock, and all those other epic ones that i haven't played because my PC lacks the balls and the PS3 lacks the K/M support.

i've been dying to play republic commando again, but i ended up selling my VC that i had when i played it back then....
