that is to say along with bioshock, and all those other epic ones that i haven't played because my PC lacks the balls and the PS3 lacks the K/M support.

i've been dying to play republic commando again, but i ended up selling my VC that i had when i played it back then....
You know bioshock uses the unreal engine right?

I want to eventally create my own maps once I can beef a pc to do so im going to start working that direction... I use to map for half life, and unreal was always different but im older now I think im ready for that challenge.

Fine ill let it drop.. but in all honesty I think all games should support community additions. maps, mods, etc...

I can't imagine playing a console game at a desk. But I understand the need to move away from standard console controllers.

Trouble with KB/M is that today there are just too many buttons for that setup. Take any FPS game on console and you'll find you need to use 12 keys.

Don't actually need to move away I think just increasing choice could help those that just refuse to use controllers.

i didn't know bioshock uses the Unreal engine, but still, that doesn't mean it holds a candle to well thuoght out and executed award winning games like bioshock.

still i'd prefer to play these games on PC on a higher resolution, but the PS3 costs that of a high end video card.

word, i have 2 of these;

and 1 of these;

when both the wifey and i are home, we usually just browse the web together with the keyboard and mouse up on one of the above, and it works wonders. it's not even bluetooth K/M, the IR ones we use, have been doing a fantastic job.

i'm sure that would carry over to gaming in front of my 50" inch plasma as i'm surrounded in speakers.

I would love to use my Logitech bluetooth keyboard and laser mouse from my couch on SOCOM. I was always a PC FPS gamer, especially from Unreal Tournament to the Battlefield 2 days and think it's the best UI for an FPS (as well as realtime strategy type). Sports, prefer a controller, of course.

Being in front of my 60" SXRD with 7.1 is superior to being in front of my Dell 24" with 5.1 surround. Most games probably don't care, just need the console to be able to map a pointer and camera from analog sticsk to a mouse. Buttons shouldn't matter at all.

Sadly I wish someone whould have warned you about bioshock and me but I wont hold you to that as you didn't know..

Bioshock is a shadow of another game, similar name made by some of the same folks a long time ago, with a few features removed, watered down, and made more mainstream.. you have bioshock..

Until it accomplishes beating its shadow it will never be in my eyes a award winning game or any game worth any form of praise until it can stand next to its shadow.

Now since im done with my rant... lets move on..

Now about those tables great idea

What I was getting at though was the notation that the ps3 can do it, why limit a game to only one kind of input, when its not neccesary, which your post has best illuminated to me...

The more choice for the user the more people that will be happy...

That would be my thinking on the issue.

Now moving back onto ut3 since I obviously have a agenda, you may not like UT3 which is fine but never put down the community, as they will always best whatever a dev could ever make with such large amounts of conent as long as they have the tools..

i didn't know bioshock was a ripoff of something else. but then again, most FPS games are these days. like all the call of medal of counter battlefield strike duty (heh doody) of honor games.
give me a break.
i wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Unreal Tournament was a derrivative of something else... tribes maybe?

bioshock still seems like a good play to me. i enjoy a good storyline over competitive play.

that last paragraph, does not help you drive your point. lol the devs are paid professionals and they trumped by community?

but anyway, i'm not gonna play UT3 on the PS3 and you're gonna keep playing it, it may be the best game ever made, but simply, it just isn't for me, in any case it's cool that it has the K/M support and that tremendous community would do well to push those features on other developers.

Actually bioshock is the deriritive of System Shock 2, even featuring some of the same dev members, a 1999 game.

Most of the mecahnics of the games are copy and paste, so take SS2 and remove the inventory system and you have bioshock.

Unreal tournament is a deritive of Unreal which is a 1998 game, but its also made from epic, now if unreal is a deritive of something else that could go back to the founding fathers of fps.

Tribes goes back to 1998 as well as they were released in the same year as the original unreal.

Perhaps you can say the founding fathers of modern day fps came from Half Life, Unreal, System Shock 2 where there founders were found in the days of Doom, Quake and Hexen.

The community represents a organization with a infiinte budget, infinate time, infinate resources and the power of many talents from all around the world..

Actually all of them are step kids of Marathon that I believe was released for Apple MacIntoshes even before Doom. So there we go, there is a rich history.
I thoroughly enjoyed your dialog with Pepelutivruski even though it quite deviated from the issue of enabling in game K/M support on PS3.

I wonder if there is any representative of a game development studio here on this forum. Their opinion would be certainly of interest on the matter.

Really? I am too busy to google that up right now, so I will take your word for it and stand corrected. Doom is the grand daddy of them all. ... But I liked Marathon better.
