With Scream releasing When A Stranger Calls Back and now Strays, I really hope they tap further into the Universal TV horror film catalogue. Back in late 2018 someone on the CHFB hinted that Frankenstein: The True Story might be getting a Blu-ray release in the US, which, if true, would surely come from Scream. Once again, a list of the more notable TV films and mini-series:

Dark Intruder (it got a theatrical release, but it was made for TV)
Fear No Evil
Ritual of Evil
The Deadly Dream
The Devil and Miss Sarah
The Screaming Woman
The Victim
Maneater
Trapped
Scream Pretty Peggy
Frankenstein: The True Story
House of Evil
Killdozer
The Strange and Deadly Occurrence
The Dark Secret of Harvest Home
Bay Cove
High Desert Kill
I Saw What You Did
(1988)
Trapped
Buried Alive
I'm Dangerous Tonight
The China Lake Murders
Buried Alive II

The Kino Insider did say they would be interested in many of these if they secured another deal with Universal, though I would expect Scream to have at least a few more, in particular I'm Dangerous Tonight and Buried Alive (unless there are legal issues holding any of these up).

We need some more modern-ish titles to balance out these announcements.

I haven't. I don't find cats scary so I'll probably be skipping this.

No, let them run the course. Eventually they'll run out and start picking up newer stuff again

Guess it's time to finally buy "Humanoids From The Deep" after all these years. I caught it on Netflix years ago but never took the plunge () and picked it up. That steelbook sealed the deal, for sure.

Personally, I'm loving seeing Scream release these horror titles from the '40s and earlier; keep 'em comin' !

As far as those Universal TV titles are concerned, FRANKENSTEIN: THE TRUE STORY is a really interesting and intelligent take on the Shelley tale, and features what may well be my favorite Jane Seymour performance as the malevolent Prima. Would also like to see Tobe Hooper's entertainingly campy I'M DANGEROUS TONIGHT with Anthony Perkins and my favorite TWIN PEAKS resident Madchen Amick get a Blu release.

I just pre-ordered the Humanoids from the Deep steelbook, and I’ll come back for the rest of the July titles in a week or two.

I’m thrilled about these re-releases for Piranha and Humanoids from the Deep, since they’re both top-notch drive-in horror flicks in my collection. I hope that we get similar reissues of Forbidden World, Galaxy of Terror, Death Race 2000, Battle Beyond the Stars, and Rock ‘N’ Roll High School at some point.

The late 1970s-early 1980s Roger Corman flicks are golden.

Corman gives audiences what they want in terms of nudity and gore, but his productions are always good-natured and fun instead of being mean-spirited or vile.

I thought Frankenstein was awful ('The True Story' moniker being particularly hilarious), but I'm always happy see more 70s TV movies/mini-series' on Blu-ray.

I really hope Frankenstein True Story is on its way, it is high on my wishlist. The title is odd, they originally wanted to call it Dr. Frankenstein. The writer's were upset by the title change but Universal insisted.

Weren't a bunch of folks asking about "The Haunted" not too long ago? I thought someone mentioned it being with Fox. If I'm remembering things correctly that one seems like one that would be well received.

It is with Fox, but Fox is a problem since they won't allow outside restorations, so we'd have to hope that The Haunted as an existing HD master, which seems fanciful. The Norliss Tapes, a title high on my wishlist, is another Fox-owned TV movie likely in the same boat (Vampire also).

Scream Factory's Facebook post for Humanoids from the Deep states this was the third announcement of the day but more will be coming this week.

Is the International version the version that contains the extra kill found on the Japanese release?

100%. I've been asking for this one for a while. I've always liked travel related movies, especially when you bring in the horror/thriller element. A store up here was going out of business and I ended up buying the DVD for $2 because it was dirt cheap and I was tired of waiting on the blu.

This and Cry Wolf would make me happy this year for more of the modern horrors in terms of what Shout should be able to get rights to. Wolf Creek is another one I've been waiting on but I forget the story there.

Ah well, opinions vary! I saw it as a kid when it was first telecast in two parts back in the day and loved it; saw it again several years ago and though it's certainly dated, felt it held up reasonably well all things considered...would be very pleasing to see it get a release.

And according to their response to someone on a Facebook post (who is me), one of those titles this week will be the second volume of their Universal Horror series.
