Nice avatar. I grew up watching Black Flag, Fear, Circle Jerks, China White and all the others at The Starwood and other clubs. When Chief Gates was in charge, you could count on those shows getting raided at exactly 10 P.M. Those were the days.....

Tangentially related, but did you see this article about Gates and how he upset the culture of Sierra Games? https://waypoint.vice.com/en_us/arti...ame-of-the-90s

Very interesting ! Thanks for sharing. Before video cameras and cell phones, they got away with murder. And the media was complicit. I grew up in Huntington Beach where even as teenagers we were terrified of the cops because of all the stories we had heard....

The North American rights are with someone else and it's currently under license to Criterion.

Kino Insider - will the next ABC TV horror movie be announced soon? On a related note - a couple of months ago you said you were unsure how many more ABC TV movies you'd be releasing on Blu-ray, and said it could be between 5-15, depending on legal and materials issues. At this point do you have a clearer idea of the number? And if so, how many would be horror?

I'm specifically wondering if their going to be able to bring Pray for the Wildcats to blu. I'd buy it even on just dvd, but hoping the elements were good enough for an HD transfer.

We've run into some issues and most likely will not be able to release the 6 or 7 ABC TV Horror Movies we originally expected to release. This is why it's good not to make early announcements, this would've been such a bigger disappointment to the fans if they knew what we had.

Here're all the remaining TV movies from the current deal:

To be released only on DVD:

Amazons (TV Movie) (1984) - DVD only
Amy Fisher Story, The (TV Movie) (1993) - DVD only
Anne Frank: The Whole Story (TV Movie) (2001) - DVD only
Bounty Man, The (1972) - DVD only
Daughters of Joshua Gabe (TV Movie) (1972) - DVD only
Huckleberry Finn (TV Movie) (1975) - DVD only
Leave Yesterday Behind (1978) TV Movie - DVD only
Legend of the Ruby Silver, The (TV Movie) (1996) - DVD only
Quarantine (TV Movie) (2000) - DVD only
Running Delilah (TV Movie) (1993) - DVD only
Storm of the Century (TV Mini-Series) (1999) - DVD only
South Pacific (TV Movie) (2001) - DVD only
Superdome (aka Superbowl) (TV Movie) (1978) - DVD only
Trackers, The (TV Movie) (1971) - DVD only

To be confirmed later - still looking for the needed film elements:

Death Dreams (1991 TV Movie)
Wild Palms (TV Mini-Series by Oliver Stone) (1993)

To be released on Blu-ray:

Love Among the Ruins (1975 TV Movie)
Nightmare in Badham County (TV Movie) (1976) - Both cuts
Pray for the Wildcats (TV Movie) (1974)

Oh dear that's very unfortunate news. Still, as you say best you didn't announce them in advance to avoid real disappointment. I have a decent idea of what at least a couple of them might have been though.

Will you be able to retain the rights to these for a while should any decent materials somehow emerge in future?

I can only hope Universal have kept their old TV movies in better shape, though all indications are that they have, which is something at least.
