Default Samsung Dominates

it's official, samsungs LCD are the top rated LCD's on the market taking the all the top spots from 55" to 40" per consumer reports.

sammys all took top honors in the 58" and 50" plasma catagory.

If I'm not mistaken Consumer Reports (and Cnet) takes into consideration the cost of the set as well as the quality...so a set with a good picture can rate higher than a set with an amazing picture and out of control price point...it's kind of lame

Listen chaps, I own both a Kuro and a 46" 650 Samsung. The Kuro rules, believe me. I love the Samsung, but the Kuro RULES. Consumer Reports over the years has proved they have the most convoluted and bizarre standards that they judge by, because everything they pass judgment on winds up turned on it's head, it is never the true best that comes out on top with them.....

I'm glad Sammy got noted for something positive! We all knew it was not going to be there Blu-ray players, that's for sure. Consumer Reports is a good place for car ratings & some other things, but not TVs. Sammy has done a lot for TVs & deserves the top spot. If I was going to buy an LCD today , I'd have to say it would be a toss up(tough choice between Sony & Sammy), even though I still have a bad taste in my mouth from there BD players & CS. I still have a 52" XBR5 & love it. It's such a good looking TV, I'm probably going to have to sell it like I did my 65" 850u & 50" 800u.

so you like overpaying for underperformance. only the top end sony's are nice, but i'm not going to over spend when i can get the same quality picture for less with a samsung.

we're only talking about tv's, i make no claim to samsung bd players being any good at all.

I have two samsungs a LN46A650 for the livingroom and a T240HD for the bedroom. the LN46A650 is
46", 1080p, 120Hz, 50,000:1, 4 milliseconds, 4 HDMI's. but most of you know that.
the T240HD is 24" 1080p 1920x1200, 10,000:1, 5 milliseconds, 2 HDMI's, 1 VGA, 1 DVI, 1 component.
love both of them. if they die I will get samsung's again

I'm thinking about getting the LN52A650 actually since it was recommended by the fine folks here at blu-ray.com, and the reviews are damn near perfect for it.

What's official about Consumer Reports?

I have yet to see them get anything right, from cars to infant car seats.

Why? Because of something in Consumer Reports? That's mildly amusing.
