Which is why I can't wait to see what they do with 01-18-08 since this is reported to be entirely shot on camcorder. If amateur video looks this good imagine what they should be able to do with a Hollywood budget.

I wonder when that's going to get a real name? Or is it actually going to be titled after its release date?

Supposedly the name of the film was to be released at Comic-Con, however due to the leak of the movie poster J.J. Abrams and Paramount decided not to reveal it. I don't know if I buy that since Abrams has a good nack of keeping people guessing. So I bet it won't be released until the last possible moment. I would think that it would be ingenious marketing not to release the actual movie title until people see it in the theatre and learn of the title during the opening credits of the film. How different would that be!

You can shoot using 35/70mm and your CGI VFX be rendered at 480p. That's how some of the early 90s series look like, or even the current low-budget ones are done. Doing so make the effects standout, which may be intentional.

I don't have any idea how that film was shot but you can use a Panavision Genesis, light it like a regular video production or verite style and you can have that camcorder effect. You can also introduce digital video noise like you can see with camcorder to the original 2K videos. That would be much more practical as it's easier to render in 2K and match it with 2K footages (and then introduce video noise), than to match your 2K render in 480p footages.

Coming back to CE3K, I want one. I'll have to watch my DVD copy again.
