Default Close Encounters of Third Kind

I haven't seen this movie. It looks like the kind of movie that will show the power of Blu-Ray. Is this worth picking up on Blu. I plan on getting Blade Runner and the first Harry Potter. My question is should I get Blade Runner first or close encounters

I would say go for Blade Runner, simply because Close Encounters has kept quite a lot of grain in the picture which you may find not up to what you expected (its still a million times better than the dvd version). Hey also welcome to the world of Blu

Oy...definitely a tough decision.

I have both Close Encounters and Blade Runner on blu and both are extremely impressive.

Personally, if you're a fan of the movie, Blade Runner would be my first choice. DVD never did this movie justice and it's simply an amazing disc (or...5 discs rather). The movie CAN be hard to follow though, so if you haven't seen Blade Runner, it may be a little hard to get into. Close Encounters is definitely a more straight forward story line.

Both are older films. I would have to pick Blade Runner simply because of the colors and objects found in it. Has more detail.

I have both BR and CE3K. They look great but are older movies. They are however key movies of teh Sci-Fi genre!!

Get both!!!

If you must get one at a time, then get CE3K first... it's a bit more accessible. Spielberg is a good story teller and you won't be left flummoxed by anything. Ridley Scott left a lot to think about in BR.

There is a raging post about BR (someone made disrespectful comments) if you want to have a look:-

That was me. Disrespectful comments? Because I voiced a brutally honest about the movie it's disrespectful? I didn't ridicule fans of BR, I actually sought out WHY they enjoy and appreciate the movie. I admit I was quite harsh but I literally just finished watching it when I started the thread and was quite worked up over my disappointment with it.

Default Question re: Bladerunner

I bought this, haven't watched it yet. What is the deal with the 5 discs? I know two are bonus disc's.(I think) , aren't the other 3, three different versions? And if so, which one is the best to watch. Please correct me if I am wrong. Like I said, I have never seen this so I just picked it up with all the hype, didn't know which disc to watch first

thanks

you really should try doing like a marathon (similar to a Christmas Story), just watch Blade Runner for 24 hours straight.....then you will love it. LOL.
Just kidding, I haven't even watched it myself. Good job hanging in there though, they are all over you about this.....funny.

24 hrs of Br and I'd go insane! Yeah, I'm getting it good in that thread but I've since edited my original post now that my disappointment with BR has subsided.
