Correcting subwoofer levels and EQ'ing the bass is where Audyssey is king. Many people report that the bass is low after running Audyssey, but more than likely, it is now closer to being correct. Sometimes it takes awhile to get use to hearing proper bass.

Actually, setting the subwoofer level is a cat and mouse game between the AVR's level setting and the volume control setting on the sub. However, that has always been a crapshoot and has nothing to do with Audyssey. Audyssey will set the subwoofer level the same as the other channels so that the system will play at reference level (75dB SPL) at the main listening point (first Audyssey test point). What seems to be unusual sub levels in the AVR setup screen is just the cat & mouse came that we have to play when setting-up any powered subwoofer.

After Audyssey completes the system's level set-up, and if the subwoofer (or any other channel levels) are not to a specific user's liking, then minor level adjustments are fine.
