Almost, eh?

Mr. "If company X doesn't do exactly what I want them to do then they are not worth my 1000 imaginary pounds of value for their products" really on that good footing to muse about the spite in others?

It has nothing to do with a company not doing exactly what I want, it is to do with that company using images to imply that what we are getting is something different to what they will deliver.

What this thread has served to expose is that some of you are so selfish and spiteful that they would actively be happy that other film fans are being shortchanged yet in the Alien 4K thread there are half a gazillion pages of whining spoiled bratts because the DC scenes were not in 4K too. Yet here most of you will get the cut you want so to hell with anybody else.

And it also shows that for those of you who bleat on about aspect ratio and not what, your exacting expectation does not extend to Kubrick's wishes.

yeh there's a Kubrick interview I've read and Kubrick says he didn't believe in Ghosts/afterlife (or the typical Horror movie Cliches)
but if they/it did exist ,the dead would still look real like us, not skeletons or white sheets or see through/spirit, like in many horror films
so I wasn't surprised he cut it after reading that

I said earlier and agree WB's are to blame as US & UK announcement was wrong running time etc and confusing artwork, and ltd info
they messed up 2001 too
US got replacement, UK never for 4k

you could email WB UK to see what they say, if they even respond, which I doubt, don't think they have a clue most of them who work there

both Amazon and HMV actually say Extended Cut now on the 4k/UHD listing
so unless there's branching it looks like it will be just the Extended Cut
which is what the initial announcement said, albeit with wrong running time

Indeed, my complaint is not about not getting what I want, that happens to all of us all the time. But here we have WB who clearly planned both cuts, decided they could save money by slipping the US cut onto us Europeans which is not the version any of us want, it is not the cut that has been available here until a 2 movie version available through HMV last year popped up and it goes against what Kubrick presented to us. I am under no illusion what we will get as a final product. They could have saved themselves even more money by scanning the shorter version, so why the US? Because there would be no end to the complaining if it were the other way around. The difference would have been that us international fans would have stood up for our fellow fans in the US.

I just saw this on the USA WBShop page, and I noticed the following things (IT IS NOTHING CONFIRMED, I HAVE NO SOURCES OR ANYTHING, IT'S ONLY WHAT I SEE ON THE IMAGE):
  • Apparently below are the Dolby Vision and HDR10+ logos. Therefore, it seems that 4K will include Dolby Vision and HDR10+, rare that WB has not yet announced.
  • And obviously, there is nothing about the UK version, we should wait for WB to launch the cover of the UK to see if it says the same.

I'd like to know if anyone heard a rumor about Dolby or HDR10 +. I was surprised when I saw it

Not intended for you.

I never doubt Stanley Kubrick. This is a testament to his film. 2 Cuts are considered legendary either way.

Name another who can pull it off? IKR. Dayum.

Well I'm in the US, and I think both cuts should've been included for those who wanted the shorter cut.

Yes, I did not mean to include the entirety of America in that statement.

Lets move on as arguing over it here won't change the outcome. Great news posted about DV.

It'll probably be a minimum enhancement layer, but it's good to know that DV on disc isn't dead quite yet.

I am intrigued, how did you end up not owning or watching the shorter cut given you live in the market for that version? I had never seen the US version until recently.

Some people say yes, mainly because they've got an axe to grind, like they'd get a prize or something if HDR10+ won the "war" (not that I think it is one, more like a skirmish that's going to end in a draw where both sides end up co-existing).

I feel like some of the early LG and Paramount DV discs had some issues with raised blacks but it seems to have been ironed out. Lord of War looked beautiful with some of the best contrast I've seen yet. I hope DV remains on discs but HDR10 looks so great I won't be too butthurt.

I haven't seen HDR10 on SC joints but aside from the compression issues they looked great.
