I was glad they got the live feed up early enough for me to watch and, as I said before, the glow-covers look really nice.

As to the update, they posted last night, around 1am it seems, that the store would be opening tomorrow. I'm wondering if that means today, as, for David, 1am is yesterday, in reference to today.

Also, as to the issue of Breeders, if it were an upscale, he would tell us. That kind of controversy wouldn't just be an internet problem. In selling an upscale and passing it off as 1080p, buyers have grounds for a return request and, if that request is denied, a guaranteed-successful chargeback. He usually gives some kind of sourcing information at the time of release, as to what the specific type of source is. If it was a master VHS, for example, he would say.

My guess is that he'll include the details on the source in the listing page itself, even if he doesn't say it first.

As to Psycho From Texas, it's not really the film I was interested in, so I wasn't paying close attention. I don't remember what Bill's source was on that, but didn't he say he got it from Bill and then had them do extensive color correction on Bill's source? If that is the case, what kind of source did Bill have and how was it scanned? Does anyone remember on that issue?

Nah, I'd expect him to spin it in the same way he did with The Last Victim's running time and The Carrier's encoding problems.

For Last Victim, there were multiple versions of the film and, by including the versions chosen by the director, they were protected from that kind of clear liability, where a chargeback is automatically guaranteed, with no waiting period. The Carrier issue was a while ago and wasn't quite the same thing as lying about source material, which is what people are talking about now.

For example, Walt had a terrible screw up at the encoding stage on David and Lisa, which caused that release, with a bitrate of something like 12mbps, to sell very poorly and ended up in many, many returns of the defective product. He later released a digital version that blew the blu out of the water, as a sort of apology. You may have noticed, Walt's digital catalogue is anemic, especially as compared to Bill's, because Walt is not a fan of the digital platform, so it was a real surprise when he put David and Lisa on digital. That digital copy is what we watch, instead of our blu, because it was so bad. That said, it was an accident. Walt didn't do anything on purpose and had put quite a bit of effort into what should have been a near perfect restoration. In short, he got screwed. That happens. It didn't involve lying or manipulation and people were, for the most part, understanding.

So, when it comes to Breeders, I would expect David to let us know if there were sourcing issues, upfront, because that is more along the lines of acceptable error, when revealed prior to sale, but would rise to the level of a lie/deliberate-concealment, were he to sell an upscale as a 1080p, and not reveal that fact prior to sale or were he to fail to offer refunds if he sold it without disclosing that information.

If he doesn't say it is an upscale or reveal a lower-resolution source as the source he used to make the blu on Breeders, then people can be confident that it is not an upscale.

CR scanned a print for their DVD of TEXAS, released on a 2 disc Six Pack,
they managed to mis framed it, & it looks like this.

It got some damaged heads & tails, but overall not bad condition,
mostly cleaner sections.
It's a bit faded but colors are far from as dire as the demon would have some believe.

The 'massive amount' of color correction hype is just that,
it just needs a little help here & there.

Now guys, there were hundreds of scans out there. How was I to know this one was just an upscale? Look at the awesome GLOW IN THE DARK slipcase!!!

Did Bill originally scan it in HD, the way most companies were already doing, prior to Blu-ray existing, or was it a low-res scan like that Australian vendor used for the VHS master tape on Incident at Raven's Gate and then sold to SGL to be used in their upscale-triple-pack?

He said, last night, that he would be discussing Breeders when opening the store. He had Bill on the phone because the Dark Force Drive-In #6 has Bill's title on it, Psycho From Texas. Breeders is all David's so, presumably, he'll discuss that later today. Or tomorrow? I really have no idea whether his "tomorrow" at 1am means tomorrow or today. Regardless, he said he'd be talking about Breeders.

I understand the urge to be upset after the fact, when something bad has happened, but, at this point, he hasn't released the title yet, let alone released it absent pertinent information, and people seem upset. Maybe wait on that, guys.... Little while longer?

If the film you're referring to is PSYCHO FROM TEXAS, I had the 6 pack DVD and the color was washed out and brownish. The clips DF has shown of the new HD version with sharp color is ten times better, but that doesn't mean I want to pay $39.99 for it.

DF is paying coy about it when asked, rumor is it's an upscale of the CR transfer, with some color work.

DF's own comments and then retractions have led some to believe this to be the case, otherwise why not dispel the rumor? His comment when pressed for info indicates more double talk.

He has posted no images or clips from TEXAS. Why?

If it is, we'll know by the off center credits ( CR transfer is misframed ).

Hey BB, I replied to you a little while back, but I guess you missed it. Dark Force actually did post a clip that is supposedly of the new master. I haven't seen the DVD, so I can't compare them, but maybe you can tell if it looks like an upscale or not.
