I tend to wait to watch my movies, but it's usually within the same month or so that I've bought it. This gives me a nice built-up collection of movies to watch so I don't go out and spend more money on more movies. Though I have tons, and I mean TONS, of "special interest" DVDs/Blu-rays that I haven't watched yet and I've had them for quite a while. It's very difficult to get through or finish a "special interest" movie right away. As for my viewing habits, well that's another story.
I tend to watch movies nightly. I have no life and this helps ease the pain. It helps to get my mind off of things by watching a movie or The X-Files (I generally don't watch much regular tv or current tv shows). But even when I do want to watch something right away it may take a while to get through. It took me a year to watch The X-Files all the way through on Blu-ray. Not much of a binge-watcher. The only movie on 4k/Blu-ray that I have not watched yet is Schindler's List. I ended up giving the Blu-ray away that I never watched once I bought the 4K. And now the 4K sits on my shelf collecting dust as well. The thing is I never actually saw the movie all the way through. My fiancee and I had it on VHS and got through the first tape, but never got around to the second tape. Now that they're gone (fiancee) it's very difficult for me to want to put that movie in. But I can't not have it in my collection. |

Depends on the price I pay. If I buy somthing day 1 without much of a sale I probably intend to watch it that day or that week. If I buy something at a heavy sale or in a group like on craigslist for a couple of dollars it could be a really long time before I get around to watching it (i have stuff i have had for years that i never got around to watching but i bought because the deal was to good to pass up).

Typically it will take me a month or two to watch recent purchases. I am buying mainly to add films to my collection that I already saw in theaters or owned on other formats. In many cases I am just upgrading from a previous release. At most 1 out of every 100 movies is something I have never seen before. Those few new-to-me movies I will watch within 2 weeks (usually.)

Most times I will watch them as soon as possible. If they end up being glitchy or appear defective in some way I can return them as soon as possible for a replacement. With the exception of some Marvel & DC comic book movies, I don't usually stock pile a lot of 4K UHD Blurays at a time without watching them first because of the above fact.
