Default Do you watch your new movies the same day you buy them?

Or do you set them on a shelf and watch them days/weeks later? Also, have you ever had an issue where you finally opened a movie a month after purchasing and it ends up skipping or not working, but now you’re past the return period? I’m curious what everyone’s habits are.

Personally, when I purchase a new movie, I just set it on top of my movie shelf until I eventually get around to watching it. Example: I purchased all seven Nolan movies and mother! on Tuesday but still haven’t watched one yet.

When I have the chance. Sometimes I'm so busy I don't watch it until later in the week.

I usually put them on the shelf and watch when its more convenient but I find myself watching them the same day a lot more often if they are movies I haven't seen. However for some controversial releases that I'm curious about checking out *cough terminator2 cough* then I open them right away.

i hardly get the chance on the same day. i usually watch my movies on "4k Friday". My cousin or neighbors typically join. the most I've waited was ten days.

I sometimes watch a movie or TV show right after I get it, buy far more often they are placed on the shelf and watched when I am in the mood for that particular one. This sadly explains why I have a lot of unwatched stuff in my collection.

I have around 200 I haven't opened yet but many I've seen before. Main reason is time.

Very rarely watch them on the day unless (a) it's a limited edition and I want to just make sure it is OK (b) it's a movie I somehow missed on theatrical release and REALLY want to see.

My biggest problem with leaving things so late is it can often be months after I've bought a title that I watch it. Just been re-registering all my shiny discs in DVD Profiler and also redeeming digital codes which I never bothered with before now - quite a lot have expired so I need to get into the habit of at least opening the pack and grabbing the code as I think a few years down the road digital will be where it's at rather than physical media.

Sure, except for the 100+ that I haven't gotten around to yet! Thought I'd start to get caught up when I retired, but that plan has gone awry. New plan is that with a new 65C7 and a new 203 I have even more reason to work at it. Still only 24 hours in a day, though.

I'm in the same boat. So many movies I haven't opened up and watched. Me and my wife go see a lot of movies in the theater, sometimes 3 or 4 a week, so just about every movie I purchase I have already seen. I like to wait awhile so it's not so fresh in my memory before viewing again. Sometimes they sit on the shelf for a long time.

I've got a kid, a wife who works till late evening and up at work by 6am, so our schedules don't line up often to watch a movie during the week days.

I usually will throw in the disc and get an idea of the PQ and make sure it works ok, but then it typically goes on the Shelf.

However, many of the discs I've been getting lately are upgrades, so I don't have to wait for my wife, so I've been able to watch those.

So, at the very least I'll checkout and make sure a disc works and get an idea of the picture. I did that with Dunkirk recently. Meant to watch the first 5 minites... Was immediately wowed by the PQ and found myself caught up in the movie and ended up watching the whole thing.

I finally got around to watching Close Encounters last night actually. That movie never looked so good. It's always nice when I finally get to sit and watch a movie that's been staring at me for months.

I have a spot on one shelf where all packaged, unwatched movies go until i get to them. I usually watch new stuff within a couple of weeks but have gotten behind recently because of working a lot of OT.

For example i still haven't watched War for the Planet of the Apes and i got it the day it was released.

Luckily i haven't yet watched a movie past the return date that was damaged but that thought has crossed my mind.

I've got plenty of movies that I bought years ago and have still yet to open. There's just too little time. I really want to watch TDK trilogy on 4K I got this past Tuesday but I'm busy watching all my Christmas films!

I’m in the same boat. I also have blind buys from four, five, or even six years ago that I’ve just lost interest in ever watching.

Depends on the timing. Sometimes I watch a movie soon after I buy it, and others I pop it in at least a couple days later.

For example, I blind-bought Cars 3 on Black Friday and watched it the next day. On the other hand. I blind-bought the GKIDS reissue of Castle in the Sky, and didn't watch it until a week after I bought it because I was going to be busy that week.

No.... I usually wait for the weekend for movies, and Mon-Fri I watch a TV episode of what ever show I'm currently watching.

I always open them and test to see if there're any issues.
However I can't let the mailman decide what to watch and when.

I try and watch on the release date but I have a bunch I haven’t watched since Black Friday. With the Nolan’s I receive for Christmas it will take me a few weeks to get through.
