its much easier to see where people views lie (if thats the point of the thread) to make a single poll versus possibly having to dig through pages of responses.

We have been getting a ton of complaints about this, plus the polls come from market researchers. If they want to make a thread and read it, and gather info, there is nothing we can do to stop them. Are we going to make life easy for them? No.

i highly approve of this decision, and i dont think max is saying that every poll thread will automatically be locked...reread his post:

From now on, polls from non-regular members will be under extra scrutiny from the mods

well to me polls are here for a reason and i think their use is encouraged so long as they are not overused and used sensibly. someone going and making 10 threads about ARE THESE DIRECTORS/MOVIES GREAT OR NOT? YES OR NO? etc is abusing and overusing them imo...

I'll like to chime in....

I think polls are necessary in some threads but not all...For instance for me a poll works best with 2 times to pick from not 10...and recently most of the polls up are 5 selections or more.

I agree that the mods should police it more...

I spoke to who you are referring to and told him one poll a day is enough. Hopefully this will be a compromise. If you see poll next to the thread and you don't want to vote, simply don't click on it. No one is forcing anyone to participate in a thread.

For the life of me I can't understand all the hate on polls-- who cares?
If you don't want to participate then simply don't. I have enjoyed the
movie polls that Czar has done recently-- I fail to see anything that's
obnoxious or irritating about them

maybe people need to lighten up a bit-- if we're on these threads all day long then might I suggest that our lives aren't so busy that having a poll here and there isn't going to end the world
