What’s interesting is that it’s only 1-6. Rogue One, Solo, and 7-9 all look fantastic, and at the correct brightness. If I watch those films with dynamic contrast turned up, they don’t look as good. Were 1-6 mastered at a lower brightness or something?
It's possible.

1-6 definitely do look a smidge darker than the other films on my TV but they still look fine.

The best reason to pick these up... finally the CGI scenes blend in with the old footage. I'm not sure how they've achieved this but (based on the Disney+ versions) they have. It used to be super obvious when they cut to a newer shot.

Are these 4k versions being released as single films or is it a case of having to buy box set for UK fans?

They re-rendered the CGI.

It is amazing! I watched the 1080p versions on Amazon before TROS and every time a new CGI shot appeared (in the OT) it took me out of the film. It seemed more dated (and obviously CGI.) Like those ship flying sequences.

I haven't watched the Disney+ versions, just flicked through them but it no longer seemed to be an issue.

The one that really stood out for me was Palpatine's hologram in Empire. It blends so much better now with the rest of the footage.

The better colour grading helps a lot as well.

Is there any extras documentaries or Content on the big best buy box set. I have the newest Saga on 4k, so would be cheaper for me to pick the 6x singles unless the best buy boxset has special content

Leave the dynamic contrast on both the player and the tv off. Have the HDR optimiser ON on the UB9000. You’ll be seeing what I’m seeing then.

There may be occasion where the ABL kicks in on darker scenes, causing the screen to dim when it shouldn’t. This happens on all LG OLEDs. If you think a scene is overly dark then a click on the tv remote will ‘wake it up’ and might well suddenly improve what you’re seeing.

The original trilogy looks fantastic in 4K, especially in any ship environment. All the details pop out. The prequel trilogy had some dodgy CGI, but got better by RoTS.

Box set or bust as it stands.

The only exclusives to the box are the Mark Hamill letter and the new TLJ discs (which are getting a standalone release at some point apparently).

Episode I looked great when I put it in. Not too dark at all. Episode V appeared jarring to me and it did seem dark, but I"m pretty used to the despecialized edition and I feel like the colors are kind of blown out on that, correct me if I'm wrong. I know they purport to being correct, but watching it, it seems really bright. So, moving to this 4k version was bound to be jarring. I think it will just take some getting used to.

I took a look at the scene in Jabba's lair in Return of the Jedi The subs were about a quarter way up the actual picture in bold white letters. It was same as the Blu-ray in the 2015 Complete Saga set. Ideally, they should have been entirely within the bottom black matte.

I expect there will be compression issues not present on a disc source--the hosting site's probably applying a significant amount of its own--but I'm also curious whether the weird way detail seems to get rolled off in some shots resembles the DNR scrubbing you mention re the remastered HDs.

Curious to hear your take (4K caps for OT films at top of page):

.
These 4K caps of the OT look f'ing awful. Total DNR mess. Pure wax. Someone please tell me these are not accurate.

They're pretty accurate to what the new Blu-ray's look like.

Not relevant whatsoever because they’re the Disney + streaming versions being viewed on non HDR displays.

Those screenshots look heavily compressed to me. But I think they offer a fair idea of the color, noise reduction, grain management, and ringing on the 4K Blu-rays.

The new TLJ 4K disc is HDR10-only, just like the rest of the set (how different the 2 versions actually look, I don't know), the 2K disc has the Score-only track that was previously digital-only, and the "Meet the Porgs" featurette from the Target-Exclusive set is included in the extras.

The alien subtitles are the original ones and are burned in to every movie...

EXCEPT for The Rise of Skywalker, which is player generated. Super annoying.
