replay shows he touched the ball, not sure which replays you are seeing. bad call. what i saw was a world class tackle. had his eyes on the ball, kicked it with the bottom of his studs away from the player. too bad you cant get these rescinded but the replays are clear as night and day. not going to blame the ref cause it looked like a pk/red from live action though.

He got the ball, but scissor locked him down... even getting the ball that was a bit much.... especially at full speed

i have to admit i laughed at fergies expression when he was carded. He just had the look as if to say, what the hell did i miss haha. I dont think fletcher would of made the team for the final anyways so i dont see it as a BIG loss. Pretty crappy for the player though, wouldnt wish it on anyone but didnt he warm the bench in last years final too? United has more than enough cover.

well by this logic, against tottenham, gomes touched the ball and took carrick out. the ref ADMITTED he made the wrong call. pretty much the same thing happened here. fletcher touched the ball and took fabregas out. how can it be one way for one call and another way for the same play? like i said no blames to the ref for either call cause watching it live it looked like a PK. although only a yellow for gomes and a red for fletcher. both were denial of obvious scoring chances so no clue why gomes didn't get a red.

fletcher is a different player from last year though, much improve and much more playing time with hargreaves out. you are absolutely right it makes fergie's team selection easier though. i would put anderson/carrick in mid. park's play suggests he deserves a start but who knows with giggs. actually fergie is lame and will go with scholes/carrick and let anderson come on later in the 2nd half for scholes. TBH though fletcher has been good for united and i think fergie would of atleast flipped a coin between anderson/scholes/fletcher. carrick is the only definite in midfield. definitely feel bad for the player like i felt bad for ji-sung park last finals, he didn't even dress up for them after series of great games.

it seems to be that United have gotten the absolutely opposite calls everytime there is a penalty involved. going back to the FA cup semi's against Everton there should have been a penalty on the Welbeck challenge (even Jagielka admitted post game there was contact). Then against Tottenham there should NOT have been a penalty (even Webb said he made the wrong call). And now this game there should NOT have been a penalty. soon rosetti will admit his mistakes but the dmg is done.

I just can't see how that call could have gone the other way (in real time). When I saw it live I jumped up with 100% certainty that it was a red. I think you had it earlier bobby, or maybe it was garland. The REAL issue is the inability to challenge the send off in order to have him eligible for the final.

yeah such a shame they cant appeal. They can only appeal if it is a case of "mistaken identity".. Awful ruling
