No anti-social here! I think that's a really good idea. In fact, just last week I invited 2 co-workers over to my house to demo my home theater setup. Naturally I popped in some of my best looking BD's (The Patriot, Casino Royale). They were so wow'd by the quality, that both of them went out right afterwards and bought PS3's! It felt good to spread the word. I'm constantly preaching blu-ray to my friends and family. Sometimes i feel like a spokesman!

But this is a great idea and always looking for a good reason to throw a little house party.

exactly. thats what i would like to do. even though i do it every so often i think it would be neat if everyone banded together to do it on the same day with the same purpose. there is no harm here. only good can come from it. even if its doing what you always do....whats one more 'party' going to hurt? the timing is perfect. it'll just be a party that everyone is else is throwing too. there are so many people who don't know about blu-ray. influence just 1 and that person will influence another and the domino effect ensues.

Hmmm I've been meaning to do exactly that... throw a party to show off the greatest technology in the world....
I can't promise the 2nd, but I can do it in November for sure... maybe even for Halloween and show Sleepy Hollow... or Evil Dead 2!
Excellent...

perfect. that's awesome. if you can't do it on the 2nd, whenever's clever and just as you mentioned, halloween would be an epic time to do it too. horror movies on a blu-ray must be unreal with the pq and most importantly the beefed up aq....

Please DON'T show Sleepy Hollow! That movie has a transfer issue (shaky picture). It might push them to HD DVD!

Default All or nothin...

I've got it all planned

My 50" 1080p Sony SXRD and 60GB Playstation 3 will be presenting "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" "300" "Ice Age" and "Hellboy"

It'll be a Tru-blu party that will rock!

Cool. I am in. Going to make an "official" invitation for it. Calling it "High Definition Movie Night: Experience the Home Cinema of the Future Now".

I deliberately do not mention Blu-Ray. It might "scare" of some friends of mine who have a XBOX 360 (no player as far as I know). But I will certainty start to educate my friends and family about Blu-Ray that night.

For the actual movie: I will let them vote a week beforehand on one of three movies. Not sure yet which. Will also depend on my collection around that time

I'm in for this, what a great idea. What better way to promote HD, Blu-Ray in particular, then by showing it off. Plus, it'll definitely be a lot of fun. I'll make sure I make this a big one.

...o, and here's the other thing if your a sales person. Try to get your manager to have a little Blu-ray party/event on this day. I work at Sears part-time, and my co-workers and managers like the idea (although it's not official yet). The company might not throw money into it, but I'm sure people will vulonteer to do stuff, bring goodies in, and so on..

I always thought about doing that, I sort of did that unconsciously out of my excitement about HD in general and BLURAY, I alwasy converted 3 people to buy PS3s and go BLU in the past 3 months. But now I will make it a point to do this on a regular basis!

I've been having Blu-Ray parties at my house since I got my PS3 last year. When my friends invite me over to their house to watch a movie I ask them "Is the movie in Blu-Ray?" and they say "No, standard DVD" and I say " I'm not coming, upgrade to Blu-Ray then I will"

After the September buy-a-thon I think I'll go to my friends and watch one of the movies on his PS3. He just got it and doesn't know what blu-ray is.

I am in but it may take me a little while to hook up a surround system. there is this girl my son likes and from what i hear she likes Disturbia... could play a little matchmaker!

Chicka Chicka yeah!

p.s. I was thinking about having another one of these on september 11th. I was going to pick up World Trade center. What is the PQ on it like?
