Just saw the trailer for this and thought it looked pretty good! I’ll probably wait until both parts are out and give them a rent, and if I like ‘em, I’ll get the disc.

I'm going to wait for both to be released together. I'm tired of paying for separate releases and then combined later. These DCU animated are not high on my list of must watch, so I can wait (though I do enjoy them).

If your in the US you should check your local library, mine gets all the DC animated movies. I already have this and Justice Society WW2 on hold.

I do but they don’t have movies and plus they are still closed cause of covid. I’ll probably just rent it on demand.

According to SuperheroHype, the movie will be released on June 22. This explains why the trailer was released so early.

https://www.superherohype.com/movies...release-date#1

Also, here are the bonus features included on the Blu-ray:

Quote:
DC Showcase – The Losers (New Animated Short) – The legendary rag-tag team of World War II outcasts – Captain Storm, Johnny Cloud, “Mile-a Minute” Jones, rookie Gunner and Sarge – find themselves marooned on an uncharted island in the South Pacific that is completely overrun with dinosaurs! Their would-be ally on this deadly mission, the mysterious and beautiful Fan Long of the Chinese Security Agency, tells them their job is to rescue the scientists that have been sent to study the time/space anomaly. Perhaps… but what is her mission?

A Sneak Peek at the next DC Universe Movie – An advance look at the next animated film in the popular DC Universe Movies collection, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two.

From the DC Vault – Batman: The Animated Series – "Christmas With The Joker"

From the DC Vault – Batman: The Animated Series – "It’s Never Too Late"
What, no commentary or 'making of' featurette?

Wonder if we'll be getting a steelbook for this. Don't know if I've seen one for a DCAU release since Man of Tomorrow

As someone who always criticizes these I have to admit it looks interesting.
I'm still not sure I am a fan of the Archer style animation but it looks worlds better than the low budget Bruce Timm amateur Saturday morning style we suffered through all these years.
I won't buy it until both parts are together, that is for sure.

You know, I'm sick and tired of people calling it the "Archer" style, because it ISN'T. Archer was animated in flash and barely had any expressive facial features. This movie and the otehrs are HAND DRAWN and move a hell of a lot better.

I just took people saying that as a reference to that somewhat "cell-shaded" look/effect or whatever. Personally, people talk about a lot more obnoxious things alongside their nitpicking in general)on this forum that drive me bonkers over calling a style like this "Archer."

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One will be available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack at a later date in 2022 as a combined presentation of the film with Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two. Guess I won't bother with this next year if I have to wait for both parts in 4K. I'm sure I can find it in other non 4K formats between now and then to judge if I really need this in my collection.. If it doesn't impress me enough, I won't bother to purchase the 4K combo. If they released part one in 4K at the same time as the other formats I would have bought it day one. Then the completist in me would have had to buy part two in 4K just to have the whole movie. Even if I thought it was just so so. A lot can happen in a year. I may not even be still around to buy it in 2022. Look how many lives were lost this year and the last from the pandemic.

I was originally gonna hold off until the collected version. But now I'm interested in picking them up individually after I found out they've designed the tops of the slipcover spines with a connecting image. I looks like this year's releases may spell out "DC COMICS" filled with heroes inside the letters.

Now the only fault in my new interest to buy The Long Halloween in two parts to own the slipcovers is I currently have no interest in owning Superman: Man of Tomorrow, which I've seen, or Batman: Souil of the Dragon, which I haven't. LOL

Blu-ray review of Part One is up, which reminds me that this thread should probably be re-named since the eventual 4K release is for both parts only.

Short version: Movie's great. Transfer? Not so much.

How long does it typically take for these to become available for digital rental like on Amazon? I definitely want to see it but I’m definitely not buying it in two parts (and also would definitely rather have them on 4K).

Usually it's about 2 weeks but this release is a bit weird as they aren't doing early access. Instead of coming out early on Digital it's being released on digital and disc the same day so it might be available to rent Tuesday. But that's just a guess, we'll just have to see.
