just to give this thread a LITTLE resemblance of the OP question, i don't think it'll ever happen to the extent that is shown in Terminator. maybe to the extent of having robots like in I Robot (not the ones that tried to kill everyone, but the ones that were like butlers) in many many many years, but i don't think we have a human vs machine war to worry about....well atleast those of us alive today don't ![]() ....ok back to the funny ![]() |

Never too soon for some A.I. somewhere to decide that humans are idiots and deserve all to die (except me and a few hot girls).
It's the only logical choice. |

Depends on your definition of what "skynet" is. Is it AI that can fight back and kill? Or is it the "machines" we have now that rule our lives? Not but a few years ago, home computers were HUGE. Now, they can fit in our pocket. Were talking 30 years. They are becoming smaller, faster, more robust in design. Think about it.
Every day your actions are dictated by a machine. Mobile Phone Traffic Light Car Tv Watch Alarm Clock Refrigerator Alarm System ATM Credit/Debit Cards Internet Water Power Food Gas The list goes on. You may think these don't count but tell me that when they fail. We have all had the displeasure of loosing electricity for one reason or another. We have all lost internet as well. Now, image if every one of those systems fail - what would you do? How would you live? Again, every aspect of your life is dictated by a machine in some form or another. Just because it's not "self aware" does not change anything. The only difference between the two - one has the power to end your life. |

If there's anyone who could possibly be considered an "expert" in this field, it's this guy, Ray Kurzweil, who won the National Medal of Technology, who predicts that a merge between humans and machines will take place by 2045...pretty interesting article...
