I’m all in on disc.

I know a lot of folks are sort of clinging to this idea but if Marvel was involved in any way shape or form in pushing 3D releases we'd have seen Black Widow or Shang-Chi in like.. well literally any second region other than Japan.

My fingers are crossed for a 3D BD here too but the reality is that Marvel in general isn't even going to bat for 3D blu-ray on their own studio releases.

I think we might have a slim chance to see this as a Japanese release due to that market still being able to support at least some 3D effort in the super hero space. It'll be 100% Sony's business decision though, again no Marvel exec is putting in phone calls for this.

If we get really, really lucky maybe a late SKU will show up in Germany or the UK, depending on how well the previous film did on 3D. That's probably a stretch because it doesn't appear that anyone at Sony particularly cares about 3D anymore based on Carnage.

Sony you can go to hell ! Wish Spider-Man Universe was owned by Warner Bros !

What will the studios do when Cameron with AVATAR 2 gives new life to 3D.

I've emailed Sony Germany at info@sphe.de to request a 3D Blu-ray.

I requested the same from Sony Japan here.

I have tickets to two 3D showtimes, bringing a total of 9 friends with me.

I've done what I can for this movie. I hope Sony makes the right call.

I wrote this to them :

Please put Spider-Man No Way Home out on 3D Blu-Ray and Venom Let There Be Carnage too. Its such a different and cool way to watch movies that no format can replicate the feeling of watching a movie like being on a rollercoaster. Please bring 3D Blu-Ray Back.

Saw this at the London Cineworld Leicester Square IMAX in 3D Dual Laser this evening. I'd forgotten just how great the 3D tech is in that screen as the last one saw in that format was Rise of Skywalker two years ago. I'm not the best person to provide a critique on how good the 3D is but, personally, I thought it was spectacular.

Regarding Disney/Marvel 3d, the most chance we've got now of it, is it going up on Disney+ in SBS format. As they've recently added Imax versions, we can but hope this might be a possibility.
However, no 3d, no sale if something is made in 3D. So fingers crossed for this, as it looks like it's going to be a great film.

RSM tried for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Sony said no for reasons RSM is not at liberty to share.

I’m sure they’ll make an effort for No Way Home, which would sell at least double what Venom 2 would.

Just got back from a 3D showing, is it even a 3D film? The film itself was fantastic, the 3D, not so much.

Sony really are fools if they don’t release this on 3D Blu-ray. My local cinemas have 3D showings on preorder well into early January with many already fully booked, which is way beyond any movie in recent memory. Clearly it’s going to be a mammoth hit and not releasing it in every home format conceivable is just throwing money away.

Despite all the trailers/posters/review shots of the film looking like it was made for 3D, the film itself looks flat?

Edit: it opens here tomorrow and the 3D showings are booked solid. Maybe only because all the other viewings were sold out and people are desperate to see it that they'll take the 3D when they otherwise wouldn't.

This concerns me, because a yuge movie like this winds up being an ambassador to 3D and if it looks flat, these people aren't coming back to the format

I don't, because this is the fullest I've seen a 3D movie showing look at my theaters in ages. It is also the first time that they have offered "prime time" showings in 3D.

This is on the short list to be "the film" of 2021, and if they botch the 3D on it then the format will wind up with egg on its face. With my watch group, Endgame's flat theatrical 3D presentation remains the reason 3D is derided, and every subsequent home viewing experience of other films (and Shang Chi, theatrically) has been met with variations on "wow, it's actually in 3D! Why didn't Endgame look this good?"

I was sat right at the back, from my experience, the best 3D was Captain America
throwing his shield in the opening marvel credits.

I wouldn't say double, but as much as...

Venom in 3D was a hit and now people, like me, would like to have Let There Be Carnage also in 3D to continue the saga.

And there's also coming on it's way Across the Spiderverse.

Ouch.

In every MCU film that I've seen, that shield toss intro is the strongest and best 3D in the whole film. I don't understand: why can't the 3D of a MCU film be as strong as that of its intro?

Now I'm leery about pressing my pals to see this in 3D. If I have time I'll see it in 3D before I press for it. Thanks for the heads-up.

Folks, It's one person's opinion. Let's wait 'til others have seen it before we trash the 3D. Gotta be better than 2D.

Especially considering the person before that (who saw it imax laser it sounds like) said it was ‘spectacular’. Ratings for theatrical versions are often all over the place, which lines up with the massively varying quality of 3D at the cinema. I’m sure it’ll be decent, I’d be shocked if it wasn’t.

If this is the same 3D conversion team as the prior two Spider-Man films in 3D, then there's nothing to worry about as far as the 3D goes, which would fall into the medium to strong 3D layering range hopefully. A blu ray 3D from Germany would be welcome, yes.

Can't believe it's this weekend already for this film, cool. That went fast. Hopefully the film is entertaining like the first one IMO, which was more of an adventure than the 2nd.

Both have great 3D though, and I expect the same for this new one.

Thanks for your impression of the 3D. What did you think of the 3D in the prior 2 Spider-Man films in comparison?

The back seat of the theater? If it's a large theater, that will definitely minimize the impact of the 3D compared to a closer seat, being closer to the screen for a more immersive view of the 3D.
